Paws Ponders Christmas

Christmas Tree

Christmas has always confused me, being a cat. I don't
see what all the fuss is about. But, I have always liked it
even so. My mom and dad always buy this big tree and put
it in the living room of our home. Then they put these
round, shiny things and lots of flashing lights, and this
nasty tasting red fluffy stuff. Then they put water in a
big red and green thing that holds the tree. I like to
check it out, but it never smells like anything I would
like to drink. I wonder what it's for? They always try
to cover up the red and green thing with this white fluffy
stuff that has little sparkles on it. Sometimes I like to
play with it, only when I do, I usually get scolded for it.
*meowy sigh*

Soon after the tree is up, they put these square things with
colorful bows on them. I think they are called 'presents'.
I know that when Christmas day comes, Mom and Dad always rip
them open and take out whatever is inside. I get some of
these 'presents' too. Mom will always help me unwrap my
'presents'. I don't know why she thinks I need help, I can
quite easiy tear off the paper and bow with my teeth and
claws. I especially like chewing on the bow. *kitty grin*

Every night during the Christmas season my parents turn on
the lights on the tree. Everything flashes at you,
and it makes me bug-eyed. I don't see what humans see in
it. *ponder* I often sneak under the tree and play with
that fluffy red stuff, pulling it off the branches. I
usually get scolded for it when I am caught, however.
*gives a kitty pout* Parents! What do they know about
what is fun? If I try chewing on the bows or rip off the
paper on the 'presents' before Christmas, I get scolded as
well. I just don't get it. Why is it ok to rip them off
one day but not another? Perhaps I'll never find out?
*ponder some more*

After mom and dad open their 'presents' and give me mine,
they get dressed and leave for an awfully long time. When
they come home they always have lots of food, and more
'presents'. There's even some for me to unwrap! They tell
me these are from Grandma Barbara and Grandma Berry. I
got some food and toys for Christmas this year! I love
to chase around my clear plastic balls with bright colored
objects inside. I also got a bear on an elastic band. Mom
holds the band while I try to catch the bear. My Grandmas
know what a kitty likes, that's for sure. Purr...

Besides the Christmas Tree, we have Three Stockings,
one for each of us. They have sparkly stuff on them
that spells out our names.
Inside these stockings we usually have Candycanes and Small Presents.
Mom also likes to have Lighted Candles which I try not to get near.
They smell nice, though. On top of the tree, is usually a Gold Star.

All in all, I think Christmas is a pretty neat time for a cat.
We get neat new things to play with... like Ornaments, and the The Christmas Tree,
and there's always lots of yummy food to eat. Purr...

So I'd like to wish one and all, especially my fellow cats,

Meowwy Christmas!! Green Pawprint ... Paws
