I heard that there exists a red vynil Roxanne single. Can you tell us something about it? Till next

Erwin Kempen: That is correct. I have seen only 2 copies so far. This was a test pressing for the colours. As you know there is only a blue and light blue version. This single has no picture sleeve (who cares!) but label and maxtrix # is equal to the blue vinyl.

Stewart is talking about his latest project, the music score for Discovery channel's first movie "The Leopards son". Premier of this movie is in the US next Friday September 27th.

There is no picture sleeve.

Nice versions of 2 songs Sting did in a Dallas studio during an interview on "MIX 102.9" KDMX radio on September 6 1996. Songs he did were:

Before September 1974 there were another 3 Curved Air formations but none of them included Stewart.

Most of them are very difficult to get, you need a source in Japan. The big wholesalers in Europe and America can't supply these. So once in a while you see a tittle on a fair but expect price around $50.00 for a single CD.

Check October 1996 issue of British magazine Q. It has a 6 page interview with Sting during the time he was in California for his MF tour. Some nice pictures, too bad Q used so many old pictures aswell. Next month there will be a free CD enclosed with the magazine, Sting will be on thisone again.

The DJ 12" Ltd Ed double pack of Police "Voices inside my head" remixes are to be released commercially on CD and 12" on the 30/09/96. Rumours say that there will be a new laser disc from Japan released on October 20 1996. On this this disc you can find a police concert from 1982, it is called:

"Live Ghost in the machine tour" 90 minutes concert of Gateshead England of July 31 1982.

Hello Erwin and fellow FREAKS!!

Several questions:

1. The song from October 1976 London "Pathway Studios" session for Virgin records: 5. "I Can't Say," is that any relationship to the song that Sting wrote and gave to Ruben Blades for his album "Nothing But The Truth?"

Ruben Blades states in liner notes from NBTT, "had asked Sting to collaborate in a song. About a year went by and suddenly he called and said he had a song for the album, if I liked it; he also said that I could rewrite it if I wanted to . Decided to leave it as it was. I added the vocal background part to it and Carlos Rios the "I can't say" chorus.

The "I Can't Say" song on NBTT album is 3:46, with the following lyrics...

                        I CAN'T SAY
                             (Sting)

    1.  I can't say
        Words that seldom fail me stay away
        Tongue tied, I struggle to tell you,
        but clarity seems to escape me.
        What's in store when someone feeling so much,
        say no more?
        Why should you wring the truth from me?

        a simple fool, with nothing to say?
        How am I ever to win you for myself?

I realize that this may be a long shot, but I am curious to know if any of the words are the same or similiar? We know that Sting steals lyrics and thoughts from himself all the time; is this one of those times?

Erwin Kempen: The song is almost the same as the one from Ruben Blades. Ofcourse Ruben's version is more Latin, Sting tried to create that with his original. Lyrics aren't the same either. Part 1 and 3 are equal to the lyrics on the album of Ruben Blades, part 2 is an instrumental piece on the original.

Sting latest songs were inspired (copied!) from some of his earlier work. Lets make a comparison between one of his first songs and one from his first solo album.

2. I thought Last Exit released an audio cassette titled, "First From Last Exit" with the following songs in 1975 (also on Wudwick label)?:

Any comments to prove or disprove this release?

Erwin Kempen : This is correct, Last Exit did release an audio tape, but it was just a few to promote their music to record company's in London. It wasn't certainly not a commercial release for sale, more a promo copy for A&R people.

3. Then my last question is about the band Sting was in before Last Exit. The Newcastle Big Band...does anyone have this recording? I am curious to know what it sounds like; any details would be nice. Is it true that this only had a press run of 200 copies? When was it released, 1972 or 1974?

Erwin Kempen: NewCastle Big Band IS-NBB-106 released in 1972. It is true that only 200 copies have been made of this album. It is probably one of the most collectable albums with Sting on it. Freak price for this album is around $400.00.

First 50 copies didn't even had a proper label on them, they never believed to sell so quickly their albums, so after that they started to make a real Wudwick label for all the remaining 150 copies.

Latest US promo is "I'm so happy I can't stop crying". It is a two track promo in a fold open paper sleeve.

Are you sure about this? My promo is just a simple card sleave (w/the photo from the back of MERCURY FALLING). The disc itself contains only the album version.

Erwin Kempen: Mitch you are probably right, I haven't received my copy yet and was told it was the same paper fold open paper sleeve as some of the other Sting promos.
