XII BARCELONA RECORD FAIR 8, 9, 10
November 1996 II FANZINE MEETING Press information The first fanzine meeting took place during the 11th Barcelona Record Fair in October 1995. It was an idea which finally materialised after some time, acting as a trial in order to gather feedback from participants and the public in general. The main goal was to make people aware of the existence of alternative and independent music publications and to encourage them to get in touch with fanzines that could be to their interest. Some of the fanzines were also on sale so people would be able to see for themselves what a 'fanzine' is all about. The attendance at the event, and subsequent success, was far greater than originally anticipated. More than 60 music fanzines from Spain and Europe were on display in the 100 square metre exhibition for people to browse and see for themselves first hand. Some fanzine editors were therefore able to inform those attending the event to a greater extent about their fanzine and help in their fanzines sales. The event was covered by local TV and regional FM radio stations and newspapers. For this second fanzine meeting we expect to substantially improve the exhibition by having many more fanzines on display and to also increase the number of participant fanzine editors selling their own publications. Free lodging for participating fanzine editors is being studied. The fanzine meeting will be advertised in national music press magazines, regional newspapers, FM radio stations and also on regional TV. It will also be covered by regional TV Canal 33, including interviews. With such a variety of different publications gathered together in the one place, it presents a great opportunity for those attending the event to discover previously unknown publications which are of interest. We would welcome further publicity for this annual event of this annual event and will welcome the participation of any music fanzine, be it official or unofficial. Any music fanzine editor can send a copy of their fanzine together with a brief description of their publication and full details of subscription. These will be included in the fanzine meeting catalogue. Fanzine editors can optionally participate in the meeting for direct sale of their publication. For participation and further information, please contact us at: Jose Garcia Corral Xavier Guillaumes P.O. BOX 108 P.O. Thanks for your attention, September 1996 PS: Please send your fanzines as soon as possible.
Erwin Kempen: I do not know if somebody makes a fanzine of any other band, if so do sent it to Jose. Europeans, it is worth going to this fair, I've been there twice and must say it is one of the best fairs in Europe.

PLEASE........can you let us know if this released ! We are keeping fingers and toes crossed :-) We do not have a laser disc player but hope that if it is released that it will also go onto video.

Erwin Kempen: Sure I will, so far only a rumour, checked Laser exchange but they had no news yet.
Erwin-
I have a question for you. Today I bought a YSTM single in a record store that carries a lot of obscure imports. This particular YSTM single is unlike any other I have heard of so I had to buy it. It is supposedly a japanese import and it includes these tracks:
You Still Touch Me(edit)
Valparaiso
Lullaby to an Anxious Child
Beneath a Desert Moon
Sister Moon(hani comissioned club mix)
Is this a find or is this not a big deal? For a CD single I thought it had a lot of tracks. It was also rather surprising to see Valparaiso and the Sister Moon remix on it. Do you know much else about this single? Please let me know. Thanks in advance, Amanda Bradford
Erwin Kempen: This Japanese issue is not a rare cd-single. They normaly make a 3" and a 5" cd-single in Japan, look to the 5" as a mini album. Valparaiso is sofar only on the Japanese issue. The single isn't that hard to find, must say that I use to see more Japanese cd's for a couple of years, seems that only a few shops will sell them today. Price for this single will probably around $20.00.

Yesterday I went to a new music store where I live that sells 45's of old and new music. Granted, most of the records (especially the older ones) are stuff like "Collectible Memories" that end up in jukeboxes and are not original pressings. But some of the current records are original pressings. Anyway, I found a 45 single with LYSBYP (edit) and YSTM (edit) on it. The sleeve was the same photo of Sting that is on the CD single for YSTM. You could tell it was an A&M release by that horrible orange/red color that is on the sticker label! I wasn't aware that any vinyl pressing of Sting singles from MF were made. Are there any other 45's from MF? I know that the album itself was pressed onto two 10 inch records (I think) for some kind of limited edition release in Europe.
Brian Thompson
Erwin Kempen : Yes there are more single to be released from the MF album, look at the Freak news above. Haven't heard anything about a double 10" record release of MF. Is there somebody who has more info about this ?
