I saw the Adelaide concert (Entertainment Centre, 21st October).
I'm so Happy I cant stop crying: For this he got a guy from the audience to come up on stage and sing with him. Sting worked really well with the audience, he was really witty and relaxed, then again with all his experience you'd expect him to be.
Three thousand cheers for Benji, my buddy, who was the lucky man in Adelaide. I was so happy for him. We knew that Sting always asks for a volunteer to help with this song, and Benji was ready; jumping up at just the right time. The lucky devil not only got to shake hands with Sting, hug Sting, ruffle Sting's hair, ask Sting to marry him, and get Sting's autograph, but he also got to perform on stage with one of the most amazing backing bands ever!!! I can't beleive his luck.
1ST ENCORE
Shape Of My Heart
If I Ever Lose My Faith In you
Every Breath You Take
Lithium Sunset
I am so jealous! Sting didn't do "Shape Of My Heart" in Adelaide! I really like that song!
OVERALL:
Sting was dressed in a black vest and pants, the whole band was dressed in basic black, Kenny wore a black and white shirt, I wish Sting had taken his vest off for Demolition Man.
He wore the same in Adelaide. Where has his sense of personal hygiene gone? The yoga must be having an effect on him. Usual Sting wears a couple different shirts throughout a concert, and usual goes topless for a bit too. He also usually swaps guitars a couple times. But like you said, this didn't happen this time.
What was really interesting for me was the politics that seemed to be going on between him and Vinnie (the drummer). I got he impression that Sting had asked him to keep quiet and not to overplay, because whenever Sting's back was turned, Vinnie was pulling funny faces, pantomime drumming, or pretending to hit cymbals without actually hitting them.....very interesting!
Nevertheless, it was the best concert I've ever been to! The best song was "The Hounds of Winter"! It was so intense, it ROCKED. The house just about caved in! Post or email your thoughts if you've got some you'd like to share? Which song did you like best? Was there any of those politics going on at your concert?

Sting's 1st Night here in Sydney
Date: 10/28/95
Hi guys...
Traffic on the list seems to have been pretty slow, and I just saw Sting last night so I thought I'd just drop a message and say it was fantastic (as to be expected). I thought Sting was much looser this time around, much easier with the crowd, and that the band were more free in their playing. It was rather funny during If you Love Somebody, because Sting and Vinnie got behind the backing vocal track and so the vocal track for the chorus came in two bars before the rest of the band - they had a good laugh at it and I don't think anyone noticed.
All in all it was a fantastic show, though I was surprised he didn't play more from Mercury Falling (for all you Soul Cagers he DID play Mad About You, and it got a pretty big cheer when recognised as well...)
Ok, well that should do, except if anyone else is here in Australia, did you catch his interview on 2MMM last week? What did you think of the studio versions? For everyone else he did an hour long spot on this radio station, taking calls and performing both ISHICSC and YSTM live and acoustic. I suppose there's one recording that no-one else on the list will have.
Ciao

I noticed that there is something different with the inner sleeve of a Japanese Police single:
The Police - Spirits in the material world/Flexible Strategies AMP 740
The "normal" inner sleeve I have is just an A&M red sleeve, the other one I noticed has a plain white sleeve which lookes like a big envelope. On the sleeve is printed in the right upper corner AMP 740. Extra slip for the opening contains printed in Japanese The Police and "Spirits in the material world" plus the time (2:58).
The Westwood One radio show of the Houston 1996 came in. Unlikely like most WWW one shows the two disc are black, with silver writing on them.
Looks like this:
S T I N G Live from Houston, TX the weekend of disc 1 of 2 sept. 13-15,1996 show #96-37 Westwood One Entertainment 1996

Sting at "Wetten Dass...?"
--------------------------
Sting will use his one-day-pause beetween the London gigs to visit the german TV-show "Wetten Dass ...?" on Sunday, Dec 8. The show is at the Eilenriedehalle in Hannover, Germany. As ZDF
(Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen) told me that tickets were not available, the show was sold out for months (probably not because Sting will come ...). Sting will only do a show part. What a pity.
Stormy Monday

Stormy Monday will be aired on german TV

Can you give us some information on the 12" Radio Sampler that was issued to help promote the 6-pack back in 1980. This contained all the a-sides, but do you know how many were distributed and what the going price is for this item. Also was it just a UK release ? It took us ages to find a mint copy and we paid £18 for it. Were we robbed !?
Dave & Wendy
Erwin Kempen: I do not think you were robbed, mint copies sell easy for 30 pounds ($45.00). I just like that fantastic cover of this promotional 12" record.
I noticed that some of us are not able anymore in getting the x.mission list. Therefore this mail from Dave and Wendy. Please let me know if you do not get any mail from the police maillist.

Tina from Outlandos has just sent us this list of promotional UK TV and radio for Sting. She said that it may well change so check your TV listings for more details.
