Note: The UK tour starts very soon, for those who are going to the Newcastle show. I understand that their will be a fanclub meeting at Phil's place. DO NOT FORGET TO TAKE YOUR AUDIO RECORDER/VIDEO CAMERA. It is likely that Sting will do some accoustic songs again.

Hello,
Just thought I'd write a few comments/thoughts in on my first Sting concert, which was last night in Auckland, New Zealand.
The choice of material was fantastic, he played my favourites off mercury falling and a fantastic range of older songs.
I was in the 3rd row (the concert was anounced with virtually no publicity, so I went in at 6 am the next morning), and there was not a teleprompter in sight...
The security guys were nice throughout the concert, but then transformed into Nazis straight afterward. We were just hanging out a few meters from the stage, tying to check out Dominic's guitar rig, and were told to piss off, and various other refinements. Any info on Dominic's rig would be appreciated...
Is Vinnie in the habit of giving out a cymbal to the crowd at the end of the concerts? Oh man, I wish it had have been me...
Sting is a genius (but you already know that). His live show was even better than I expected, which was pretty damn cool.
Sting's genius extends to his choice of band members. The band was great.
A guy I knew from school (a few years back) was the singer pulled up for ISHICSC, and Sting seemed pleasently surprised that he was a really good singer. I talked to him after the show, and he was NOT a
plant.
Sting bought out local singer Annie Crummer for Let Your Soul Be your Pilot, and it really added to the song. I was hoping she'd come out for Demolition Man too, but it was not to be... Actually, I was really hoping that Neil Finn would be there, but alas no.
The energy level was great, especially the upbeat Lithium Sunset. What a concert.
There you go. Thanks for listening, and especially to the people who replied when I posted asking who his band were for the tour.

Very nive job. If I may -- Jeff Seitz does not perform music on the Equalizer, or on the two movies in which he's listed as 'performing' in the credits, other than the occasional assist on a complicated rhythmn in the recording session. I'm thinking of a some drumming he did once that made it through the mix, but that is very rare. It's all Stewart. Jeff's wizardry comes in the production phase, editing and fitting what's been composed, making adjustments and changes. These credits probably appeared to fulfill financial needs, rather than artistic ones. But don't think for a moment that I'm diminishing Jeff's contribution -- I don't think Stewart would be the same without him. They're a true team, and Jeff's as much a genius at what he does as Stewart is at being a brillaint composer, musician, bon-vivant and all-around nice guy.
Have you seen Leopard Son yet? It's brilliant! There was a TV special about it here, and Stewart's bit was the best part -- especially his impression of a lion. He's just finishing up the score to a movie called "Gridiron", although that might not be the correct title. It's Tupac Shakur's last movie, and the music is really hard and driving, or so I've had it described to me.

Hi Erwin, hi you Freaks,
just heard the judge court of Mannheim (Landgericht) in Germany has forbidden record and CD "Boersen" (don't know the english word, sorry) on sundays because of they are "public business". And "public business" is not allowed by law on sundays.
Bad times for freaks...

Frank Longen wrote me this:
A new Police CD-single should be released soon, called "Unlimited Beats" and contains a medley of nine Police songs.
Any news on that ?
Erwin Kempen: I haven't heard anything about this, nothing at all.
Many people asked me to make a list, well here it is. Please let me know if you have a cd/lp which is not on this list.

Hi Erwin
Just looking through some old Outlandos newsletters and came across a review of Sting's first solo gig's at the Ritz in New York. The set list that was printed (from someone's memory) included a song called "Homeland". Any idea what this was/is - is it a song we know by a better title, is it a cover, or is it just wrong ? We have assumed you have a tape from one of the shows !!!
Cheers
Dave & Wendy
Erwin Kempen: This is just wrong, at that point nobody knew any tittles so we had to guess. This was the set list for the first show Sting did.
NEW YORK "The Ritz" February 25 1985
Roxanne/shadows in the rain/driven to tears/childrens crusade/one world/we work the black seam/bring on the night..when the world/moon over Bourbon street/I burn for you/if you love somebody/down so long/need your love so bad
This tape is worth getting in your collection, not only because of it is Stings first solo gig, but also the way he performs the songs. Everything is in an early stage, only weeks later they recorded the album.

Hi Erwin
Its freak time, and not a PC, MAC or Hedgehog anywhere !
Do you know if (and if yes, how many ?) copies of the UK release of King of Pain came in a gatefold sleeve with a free copy of Synchronicity II ?
Also, Spirits in the Material World - how many came with a free badge ?
Thanks as always
Dave & Wendy
Erwin Kempen: Well Freaks I need help with thisone ! Never knew that there was a gatefold sleeve for King of Pain anyway, perhaps somebody else ?
