Band Members

Origins

We come from Bristol, England. More specifically, Joe, Matt and Will come from a small satellite town of Bristol called Nailsea. Nailsea is notable mostly for the fact that there is nothing notable about it. Matt, Martin and Joe have been in various bands together since they were all at school, about eight years ago. They formed The Middle Twenty two years ago when Will joined.

Music

You'll appreciate that it's pretty difficult to describe what we sound like; someone once said that writing about music is like dancing about architecture. You could read some of the reviews we've had here but the best thing would be to download some short snippets of our songs. They're in mp3 format here. If you like them you can order some CD's and other stuff here.

Nonetheless, it might be worth mentioning some of the stuff we're into: The Beatles, Phil Spector, The Specials, New Order, Nirvana, The Sex Pistols, David Bowie, the classic dance pop records on Stax and Motown and the Northern Soul which galvanised Dexy's and The Jam. See our links page if you want to find our more about these artists.

What We've Done

At the moment we are looking for a record and management deal - but then who isn't?

Most of our recordings so far have been made with Greg Haver. Greg is a Welsh producer who has worked with Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals and Catatonia. He has small production credits on the Manics albums 'Everything Must Go' and 'This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours' Greg's production gives our spiky punk songs a massive sound which we call the 'sound to make your ears bleed'.

We've played a few London gigs so far and have had quite a few record companies come to see us, although nothing has come of that so far. There are a few who are keeping an eye on us, so they say.

We have a lot of connections with Cardiff and had our song 'Turn On The Neon' played on Red Dragon radio when it was featured on a compilation CD called Revolving Doors and Department Stores. This CD was compiled by a friend of ours called Martin from a band called Mohobishopi who have recently had an On feature in NME and a Steve Lamacq session.

Our track 'Spyhunter' was played on the Claire Sturgess show on London indie station Xfm.
