Why am I doing this? 'Webster' (aka our old friend the SB) left the message below in my guestbook.

"Punk" as defined in the 1992 edition of "Webster's Dictionary," a. crumbling, decayed; worthless.- n. young, inexperience person; petty gangster; style of rock music characterized by a savage rejection of convention; one who follows such a style.

Hmn, well, lets take a look at the 2000 version, as according to dictionary.com, shall we?

a.A young person, especially a member of a
rebellious counterculture group.
b.An inexperienced young man.

a.Punk rock.
b.A punk rocker.

an older man.

Lets examine.
1. a. Sounds about right to me. b. How experienced do you want me to be? I'm 20, geez. And you know, sometimes I was even less experienced then I am. I could go without living in a world this harsh sometimes... sometimes I wonder about *rebellious* things... like an upheaval of morals, values and beliefs... yeah, that'd be real ‘cool'.

Which would you rather be?
Lets go through this.
1. Conforming with, adhering to? Not keen on that. Next.
2. Lacking observable deficiencies... well, if I did, then I'd be perfect... and I'm not even going to pretend I'm perfect. If you want to be that pigheaded and say you are, that's super. Hope you can back it up.
3. Um, whatever.
4. Same as above.
5. Average. Not for me either. See, all through history the ones who haven't been seen as average and free from ‘emotional disorder' have been the ones to bring about change. I think I'd like to take a stab at that, yeah...

And there you have it. Population at large: 0. Johhny Anonymous: Five billion.

May I also point out that dictionary explanations are also quite stale. I mean, homosexuals refer to themselves as fags all the time, you don't see people wrapping them in twine to put over the fire. I used to use definitions like that to prove my (heh) 'point', but then I turned 6. Ouch, that was juvenlie and thoughtless, but what can you expect from an inexperienced young man?

Now kids, obviously not all meanings of a particular word take effect whenever a person uses them at any given time. It's too bad it takes a dummy like this to point it out to us all. I say this, because does someone sub-average get into university, and get a partial scholarship? Is that something someone of very poor quality gets? Also, on the human side of things, it doesn't figure that someone, a ‘crummy bum' as myself, would get a delightful, beautiful girlfriend who loves them very much, either. Just thought I'd add that.

Some punks are good. Real ones, they're good. Bad ones... yes, that's right! Bad ones are bad. And you may have noticed I have something of a problem with the fake punks. The ones who like the gear and the drum beats... but just don't listen to the words. Actually there 'Webster', you'd make a fine fake punk... you don't seem to listen to words very well at all.

And if I am such a ' crumbling, decayed, worthless petty gangster', why concern yourself with any lowly thing a person of such character would have to say? A true mystery why anything that springs from my fingertips would cause anything of a ruckus in the life of such a normal, dignified young woman.
