Prologue

Erin had no idea where she was. The only thing she did know was that she was outside, at night, and in the pouring rain.
The streets were empty...it looked like a ghost town. The only thing that gave her some reassurance was the flickering street light that she was standing under.
The rain started coming down harder and harder. Erin knew she had to find some sort of shelter.
She walked quickly down the street, trying every door she passed. But, to no avail, they were all locked.
"GREAT !!" she said aloud. "Now what am I going to do ?"
All of the sudden she heard footsteps. Not having seen anyone for at least a half an hour, she was very scared. Then she saw the figure running toward her. She could tell it was a man. Now she was truly horrified, so scared that she started to feel dizzy. She felt herself falling to the ground...she had fainted.
When Erin opened her eyes she found herself lying on a bed in a strange room. The only light came from a small candle on the nightstand next to her. She looked around the room. It was very plain, the only furniture in it was the bed, nightstand, and a chest of drawers across the room.
She still couldn't place where she was, but at least she was warm and dry. Then she heard the door open. Standing in the doorway was the same figure as she had seen before. She opened her mouth to scream, but no sound came out. The man moved toward her and stopped beside the bed.
"Miss ? Are you okay ?" the man asked in a deep voice.
Despite the circumstances, Erin was taken by the beautiful voice of this mysterious man.
"Ummm..." she hesitated, "I think so."
She squinted her eyes to try and see the face of the man, but, strangely, she couldn't make out any of his features. The man leaned in closer to her. His face came into the soft light of the candle and...

Chapter One
Erin's eyes snapped open.
"Woah !" she thought "What a strange dream."
She glanced at her alarm clock. 7:23 am. It would be three more hours until it went off. But she knew she would never be able to go back to sleep, not after that weird dream. She stayed in bed for a few minutes trying to place the voice of the man in her dream. But, she had no luck.
"If only I could have stayed asleep for a few more minutes...I could have seen his face !" she said quietly.
Slowly, Erin lifted herself out of bed and made her way across the bedroom to the bathroom. She turned on the water in the shower and let it run for a few minutes. Then she stepped in and stood there, letting the warm water run over her. She tried not to think about the dream but she kept hearing that voice repeating in her mind. It was driving her crazy, she had to stop thinking about it. She quickly finished her shower and got out to get dressed. She decided today would be a 'no fuss' day and chose an older pair of jeans and one of her new shirts from Abercrombie & Fitch.
After she was dressed, Erin went downstairs to get her usual morning cup of coffee. She stared out the window while waiting for the water to boil. She was startled out of her thoughts when the phone rang.
She picked it up, "Hello ?"
"Hey sweetie !", said the caller.
Erin thought for a moment. "I don't have a boyfriend...so who could be calling me 'sweetie' ?"
She hesitated, "Brian ?"
"Of course ! Who else would it be ?" he asked.
"That's what I was trying to figure out !" Erin answered.
Brian and Erin had known each other for as long as they could remember. He was Erin's best guy friend, and vice versa. They had been neighbors for years but, recently, he had moved out of his parents house and got a place of his own.
"So, how have you been ?" asked Erin. "Haven't seen you in a while !"
"I've been fine. Just trying to get my place in order here, it's harder than I thought !" he answered.
"I tried to warn you ! But you wouldn't listen to me !! You KNOW I'm always right !" she joked.
"Yeah, yeah...I know ! So, how 'bout you ? What have you been up to ?" Brian questioned.
"I've been okay. Just trying to make the best out of the summer, I guess." said Erin. "Anyway...what did you call for ?"
"Gee, not much for chit-chat are we ?" Brian laughed.
"Well, not at...", she glanced at the clock, "eight-thirty in the morning !"
"Sorry, did I wake you up ?" he asked apologetically.
"No, no...I've been up for a while. I just haven't had my coffee yet !" Erin laughed.
"Oh, I see. Well, I was wondering if you were busy today ?" Brian asked.
"Ummm...nope. Not that I know of." she answered.
"Well, you are now ! I want you to come over and see my house. And I want you to meet some of my friends." Brian demanded.
"If you put it that way, I guess I can't say no ! So, what time ? And how many friends are we talking about ?" questioned Erin.
"Well, how about noon ?" he suggested. "And three friends that you've never met, plus my cousin Kevin."
"Kevin ? Wow...I haven't seen him in a long time ! I think the last time was when we were about fifteen." Erin said.
"Yeah, and he was eighteen. That WAS a while ago !" Brian laughed.
"So, noon ? I'm...uh...gonna need directions to your house." Erin reminded him, as she searched for a pen and paper.
Brian quickly gave her the directions, then they hung up. Erin decided that if she was meeting his friends she would have to get more decent. Plus, Kevin was going to be there. And from what she could remember, he was really cute !!
She quickly did her hair and make-up and picked out a newer pair of jeans than the one's she had been wearing.
Time had flown by so fast that, before she knew it, it was eleven o'clock...and she figured she'd better go then to leave time to search for his house.
Erin got in her black Jetta and started down the street. She saw Brian's mom outside and waved as she drove by.
All of the sudden, Erin had a great idea.
She pulled into the parking lot of McDonald's, and moved into the drive-thru line. When it was her turn, she ordered six number three's ( a quarter pounder w/ cheese meal ). Brian and the others would be so surprised. She loved doing things like that for him. After all, that's what friends are for !!
Erin drove the rest of the way with the windows rolled down and the radio turned up. It was a beautiful day.
By this time, she had forgotten all about the dream from last night.
Well, that is chapter one of my story. I will be gettin' the rest up soon !!!!
