Chapter Two
Erin got to Brian's house at about ten to twelve. She pulled, slowly, into the driveway, staring at the magnificent house in front of her.
Her mouth dropped open. "Oh...wow !" was all she could say.
She opened the car door, still not taking her eyes off the house. One leg before the other, she got out of the car, McDonald's in hand. Quickly, she glanced at her reflection in the car window, not wanting to look too windblown.
She made her way up the front steps and then knocked on the door.
She heard loud pounding as someone came running down the stairs.
"Geez !" she whispered.
Suddenly, the door opened. She saw a young man, probably still in his teens, with blond hair and blue eyes. He was quite tall too.
"Hi !" he said cheerfully. "You must be Erin."
"Yup...that's me !" she smiled.
"I'm Nick...come on in !" he offered, holding out his hand, both for her to shake and to guide her into the house.
Erin gladly accepted, and placed her hand in his. "Thanks !" she said.
"BRIAN !!!" Nick yelled. He then turned to Erin, "He'll be here in a minute or so."
"Okay...I don't mind." Erin agreed.
"So, what do you think of this place ?" asked Nick.
"It's amazing !!" she replied.
"He's been busting his butt for the last few hours, getting it ready for you to see it !" Nick laughed.
"What's the matter with him ? He didn't have to do that !" Erin giggled.
"Well, he just..." Nick started. But before he could finish, Brian came bounding through he foyer.
"Hey !!" Erin said, surprised, as Brian gave her a huge hug.
"It's so great to see you !" Brian gushed. "I see you've met Nick, now it's time for you to meet the others !"
Brian grabbed Erin's hand and led her into the kitchen.
"Erin, this is AJ." Brian introduced.
"Hey ! It's nice to meet you, Brian is always talking about you." AJ smiled.
"Nice to meet you." she said, shaking his outstretched hand.
Erin could only think of one word to describe AJ...interesting. For one, he was wearing sunglasses inside the house. Two, his hair was a very strange color of red. And three, his facial hair was just way out there. "Whatever floats his boat, I guess !" she thought.
Brian grabbed her hand again and, this time, let her to the living room. She saw, obviously, one of his friends sitting on the couch strumming an acoustic guitar.
"Yo, D ! This is Erin ! Erin...Howie, but we call him 'D' for short." Brian explained.
"Why 'D' ?" Erin asked.
"My last name is Dorough, so they either call me 'Howie D' or just 'D'." Howie said.
"I see. Well, it's very nice to meet you Howie." she said, holding her hand out.
"Ditto !" Howie said. But instead of shaking her hand, he lightly kissed it.
"Well...". Erin was speechless. He was obviously a romantic kind of guy.
"Hey now !!" Brian laughed.
Once again he took her hand and led her to another room in the house. This time it was the basement.
"Wow !! This is nice !" Erin said of the completely finished room.
"Thanks. I did it just for you !" he smiled.
"Oh, give me a break !" Erin giggled, giving Brian a little push.
"Okay...maybe not ALL for you. But I did want it to look nice for when you saw it." Brian admitted honestly.
"Yeah...okay...I believe you !" Erin smiled.
"Oh, here we are !" Brian said.
Erin looked and saw a dark haired man sitting at a set of keyboards. He was wearing only a pair of blue jeans , the only think she could think was "Oh...WOW !!"
"Hey Kev !!" Brian yelled. "Come on over here."
Kevin got up and walked toward them.
"You remember Erin ?!?!" Brian asked.
"Of course !" he smiled, then reached around Erin and gave her a hug.
Erin returned the gesture, not entirely minding the feel of his bare skin on her's.
"How have you been ?" he asked.
"Great ! Ummm...good...uh, fine. Oh geez, I'm babbling !" she blushed.
Kevin just smiled at her, "That's okay. You're cute when you babble !"
She blushed again. Then, suddenly, it hit her. That voice...the man in her dream...it was Kevin's voice !!
