Chapter Five
Erin and her passengers were traveling along in silence when Kevin turned towards her.
"Do you mind if I put some music on ?" he asked.
"Not at all !" she smiled. "Whoever sits shotgun in my car has control of the radio."
"Hmm...that could be dangerous, depending on the person who's sitting shotgun !" Kevin laughed, as he flipped through the stations.
"I guess !" Erin laughed.
"Oh...I know !!!" Kevin exclaimed, retrieving a cassette tape from his pocket. "Tell me what you think of this."
He popped the tape into the deck and pushed play. A slow song started to play. Soon, words accompanied the music.
"What is it ?" Erin asked.
"It's a song I wrote." answered Kevin.
"And that's you singing ?" questioned Erin.
"Sure is !" Kevin said excitedly.
"It's really beautiful !" Erin commented.
"Thanks !" he started "I've been working on it forever ! In fact, I first wrote it when I was thirteen, and now I'm just trying to improve on it."
"Wow ! I'll say you've been working on it for a while !" Erin said, surprised. "What's it called ?"
"It's called 'As Time Goes By'." answered Kevin. "So, you really like it ?"
"Of course...it's wonderful !" Erin encouraged.
"Then it's yours !" Kevin said with a smile.
"WHAT !?!?" Erin exclaimed.
"Huh ?" Brian mumbled, sitting up in the backseat.
"It's your song." Kevin explained "I'm dedicating it to you."
"That is so sweet." Erin gushed.
Brian just laughed softly to himself.
