Chapter Five
The two groups arrived at Disney around two-thirty. The park was kind of crowded for a Wednesday afternoon, but , surprisingly, they found fairly close parking spots.
Everyone piled out of the cars and met mid-way between the two.
"Okay," Howie started "let's go !"
The six of them walked towards the gates and got in line to pay. The line moved quickly and soon they were face to face with the booth operator.
Kevin got his wallet out of his pocket, as did the other guys, he then looked up at the woman in the booth. Her mouth dropped open, she froze, and all she could do was stare.
Kevin spoke up, "Umm...six please."
"Uh...umm..." the woman stuttered "you're the Backstreet Boys aren't you ?"
"So we've been told !" AJ joked.
"Then it's on the house." the woman smiled.
"But you'll have to pay." she told Erin, her tone suddenly changing from happy to extremely serious.
"Oh, okay...how much ?" Erin asked.
"It'll be twenty dollars." the woman answered.
Erin retrieved a twenty dollar bill from her pocket and unwrinkled it. But before she could give it to the woman, Kevin was already getting her ticket.
"I could have payed for it, but thanks !" Erin smiled.
They all walked through the gates and stopped in the middle of the street and looked around.
"That was really rude of that woman !" Brian objected.
"Yeah well, not everyone can be cheerful and nice." Erin said.
"But still..." AJ said.
"Well, it's not really that big of a deal." Kevin chimed in. "Let's just worry about having fun !"
"Sounds like a plan to me !" Erin called, skipping ahead of the guys.
Kevin picked up his pace a little to catch up with Erin. The two walked about ten feet ahead of the others and talked quietly.
"So, I payed for you...does that make this a date ?" Kevin asked curiously.
"If that's what you want it to be." answered Erin. "I wouldn't mind it being a date." she smiled.
"Me neither. I guess it's settled then." Kevin said, putting his arm around Erin's shoulders.
"So, what do you want to do first ?" Erin asked.
"Ummm..." Kevin thought aloud, with a sly smile on his face.
"Now, now ! It's our first date !" Erin joked.
"Oh, alright." he sighed, looking down at his feet and kicking the dirt like a disappointed child.
Erin gave him her famous 'give me a break' look and a little shove.
Kevin just laughed.
Soon, the other guys caught up to Kevin and Erin.
"So, what are we gonna do first ?" Nick asked.
"How about some rides ?" Brian suggested. "I know they're Erin's weakness !"
"What rides are close ?" Erin asked.
"Space Mountain is over there." Howie pointed, looking at the map.
"Okay, that sounds good." Erin replied. "Let's go !"
The group walked towards the attraction and got in line.
Surprisingly, the wait wasn't long and soon they were getting strapped into the cars.
Howie and AJ were in the first car, Kevin and Erin in the second, and Nick and Brian behind them.
The ride began moving slowly and everyone grabbed their handrails.
The cars crept slowly towards the top. When the coaster reached the highest point it plummeted down the rails.
Erin screamed, put her arms around Kevin, and hid her face on his shoulder.
Kevin looked down at her and smiled.
Erin glanced up with an expression of extreme fear on her face.
"It's okay." Kevin said, reassuring her with a hug.
Soon, the ride was over and Erin decided that she would wait a little while until going on the next one. Kevin agreed and the two decided they would walk around while the others entertained themselves.
