The Kick Ass Page

The first person I have to put on this page is Arthur Paul Alexakis from that wonderful band Everclear. Why Art? Cuz Art's the man, man!

Why Art Alexakis Kicks Ass

Art kicks ass in soooo many ways that it's really hard to name them all, but I'll try to cover some of the major ones. (sorry if this sounds bad, but I get so [sobs] choked up when I talk about [sobs] Art [lots of crying]!) He's a total inspiration to teens trying to resist drugs cuz he kicked a 14 year drug habit, and believe me, there aren't a lot of people who could do that. He's so clean now, he doesn't even drink caffeine! (well, mmmh, he might, he's a little coffee crazy) Plus he's the sweetest guy. Even when he's on tour, he calls home every night to read a bedtime story to his daughter, Anna. And then, of course, there's the MUSIC. Everclear (as well as Easy Hoes and Colorfinger) songs are composed of awesome lyrics combined with an fectious melody. The lyrics he writes, from the sweet and innocent ones in songs like in "Annabella's Song" or "I Will Buy You A New Life", to the slightly cynical, yet oh-so-true ones in "Everything To Everyone" and (my personal favorite) "I Will Be Hating You For Christmas", to the ones the are painful, yet true like in "Father of Mine" and "Heroin Girl", all are deep and meaningful. Some people just write whiny love crap (Backstreet Bastards) or stupid stuff (Ricky Martin) that the statis quo just eat up, but Art actually takes the time to write songs that mean something. What makes it even better is that all the songs (at least what I've heard) are pretty up beat, even the ones with fairly dreary lyrics, and in my expert opinion, I think that's pretty genius. Plus, any guy that has a Cat in the Hat tattoo, and covers the "Speedracer" theme song is okay in my book.
(Is it just me, or did that whole thing sound like something some famous actress would read off cue cards right before handing Art Alexakis the "Life-Time Acheivement Award". Oh, well, I don't care. It's okay to sound really korny if it's the only way to edamacate all you beautiful people about how much Art Alexakis kicks ass!) {:`)> (like my little beatnik dude)

Ass-Kickin' CDs

Okay, I've got some response to this category. See, in order for a CD to make the top 10 or whatever I have to agree that EVERY song on the CD is just the greatest thing you ever heard in your life. There are a lot of albums (even ones by my favorite bands) that didn't make the cut. So here are some EXTREMELY good, but I didn't put in the listing above because there was only 1 (or more, in some cases) song that I didn't like:

1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours by Green Day (it's my second favortie Green Day album. I can't stand the song Dry Ice. I can't help it. All of those "Oh I love her" things are kinda sappy and can get annoying. The end of the song is ok though.)
Nimrod by Green Day (it has a more mature sound and I'm too immature to appreciate it, what can I say? But it's still good. All Green Day is good. Hitchin a Ride, King For a Day, and Platypus (I Hate You) are pretty good though, and the Grouch is growing on me.)
So Much For the Afterglow by Everclear (I don't like Why I Don't Believe in GOD.)
Sparkle and Fade by Everclear (I can't stand the song Her Brand New Skin.)

Viewers Choice:
Life is Peachy by KoRn
Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo by MxPx
Kerplunk by Green Day (I don't have it yet, which is why I didn't mention it)
World of Noise by Everclear
