Shots from 1999 Rotterdam World Domination Round 1

Stephen Holodinsky (CAN) is building his Sealed decks, the three sinister candles hinting at a sprinkling of tag and bag or worse... On my original photograph, you can make out a Punitive Counterstrike above a Trojan Horse on the table. Topmost Runner card visible is Codecracker. One wonders what Stephen might be pondering right now...

Meanwhile, German Champion Daniel Schneider (left) and Ocke Rörden, who doesn't know yet that he eventually reached 3rd place in the upcoming Finals round of WD 1999, are not idle. Wearing their team shirts of the "Kiel City Grid Seehunde" (i. e., "seals", or literally, "sea dogs"), they are hatching mischievous plans of their own. It's a bit hard to see on this copy, but Daniel's topmost card is Aujourd'Oui. On Ocke's various card heaps, a Microtech Backup Drive, Junkyard BBS, Wizard's Book and Worm are barely discernible on my original.

As a side event to the Rotterdam WD Round 1, a Booster Draft tourney was held. All around the table, Runners are frantically searching for the best card to draft. From left to right, we can see: Ingrid Popelliers (who is ogling a Data Raven), Rik Geysels (mostly his sunglasses), Arjaan den Ouden (our host), Eric Rehorst, Ali from Paris, somebody's head I do not recognize, and Edwin Ng who came all the way from Singapore.
