Anthrax is a group of talented musicians brave enough to do always what they want: play the music
they want to hear, and have a lot of fun doing it! Always ahead of its time, Anthrax has challenged all
trends and stereotypes. When most bands were wearing leader jackets, makeup, and lots of hear spray,
Anthrax was wearing shorts and T-shits. While most bands were writing songs about having fun, having
cheap sex, getting money, and getting drunk, Anthrax was writing songs about discrimination, the threat
of nuclear weapons, exploitation by organized religion, the consequences of drug use, the situation
of the homeless as well as that of the Indians, and many other social and political issues. When heavy
metal was considered suicidal, Anthrax released State of Euphoria an album full with positive songs,
encouraging people to stand up for themselves and live up their lives. When heavy metal and rap were
considered completely different worlds, Anthrax merged the two with "I'm the Man," and later with
"Bring the Noise," a song recorded with the rap group Public Enemy. In the 90s, when heavy metal has been considered less
than popular, Anthrax released Sound of White Noise and Stomp 442 , two
albums filled with heavy metal songs.
This year, once again, defying all trends, Anthrax is working on their new album "Anthrax," to be released by the end of 1997.
