BIO
As far as I can remember, Three Impotent Males must have started during early 1994. They played fast and manic punk rock comparable to NOFX and other contemporaries of that time. I remember hearing from Wes that he had a new band around this time, and I remember that before I was in high school (pre-1994), he had been in a band called Chunkwagon (I think?). I wasn't allowed to attend shows until October of 1995, but I believe TIM was playing throughout 1994 at The Tunnel where shows happened frequently that year.
I remember that in the Summer of 1995 they played a show where a band from out West (BC?) played called DBS. They went on to release a bunch of CDs.
In October of 1995, I went to see my first punk show in Sarnia. It was only Three Impotent Males at the Campbell St. Station. It was awesome, and I managed to see them as much as I could after this.
They played pretty often in Sarnia, and by Spring 1996, they had released a S/T CD on Raw Energy Records which had other bands such as Random Killing, Trunk, Five Knuckle Chuckle and later Marilyn's Vitamins. At the start of that Summer, they did a show that was a shoot for a video that would be sent to Much Music. I'm not sure if it ever came to be, or what, but it was a fun show.
It's after this Summer that my memory in relation to them becomes extremely shady. I know that at some point, Carl MacMillan left the band and was replaced by Mike Wistuba. I don't know any of the details behind this. I know that there was a year where they didn't play any shows in Sarnia really but I am unsure if they were not a band or what. There is a flyer at the start of 1998 that has them, but that show never happened. I think that by this time, Wes had possibly moved to Toronto.
At the time of breaking up, I guess they had managed to record for another CD, however, this was never released, and I haven't been able to find out much information about Raw Energy Records, and I imagine this label has ended as well.
Carl MacMillan wasn't in any other bands afterwards (as far as I know). Jeff Tkachuk went on to play drums in SRB when Kevin Howley left. I'm not sure if he's done any bands recently but I still see him around and will ask him to help out in making the TIM section suck less. The Three Impotent Males website that I found that seems to have been created by Jeff, says that Wes Ryan and Mike Wistuba moved to Toronto and formed a band with a singer named Clay and a new drummer, called Powertrip.
Here's some info from that website about accomplishments of the band:
"Live footage was aired on TSN during a Snowboard Canada competition.
"Wonderful World", a song from the first CD, was used on two CBC Television shows, Black Harbour, and The Rez.
Collectively, the members have shared the stage with bands such as 88 Fingers Louie, SNFU, Diesel Boy, No Fun at All, Reset, Goldfinger, Offspring, Gob, DBS, and more.
Are signed to Raw Energy Records, w/Page Music Distribution, and have a sponsorship with ARNETTE.
They drank lots of beer."
