Behind the Scenes-- E! Entertainment special on the making of Blast from the Past with Brendan, Alicia Silverstone, Dave Foley, director Hugh Wilson . . . I don't really know anything about this show, I didn't see it.

Top 10 Countdown-- Brendan and Alicia hosted an hour-long block of '80's videos. Brendan reveals his wish to have a stack of Sting cd's with him, were he stuck in a fallout shelter for 35 years. He also discusses the vicissitudes of a-ha's "Take on Me", sings the chorus to "Billie Jean", performs a mean finger version of the moonwalk, and gets hot and bothered of the prospect of obtaining money for nothing and chicks for free. He's the life of the whole show; Alicia sits there like a toad on a rock.

February 1st, 1999-- Late Show with David Letterman-- HE KICKED ARSE! Huge improvement over his last sojourn into the late-night talk show circuit. Brendan was poised, confident, funny . . . told a story of how he proposed to his wife. Since then, he's told it four or five times again, which has caused fans of Bren to dub his tale "Gummi Bears 1999", after the infamous "Tai the elephant stepped on me but we made friends when I gave her gummi bears" story that we all heard OVER and OVER during the summer of 1997.

NOT an image from the Late Show, but a darn flattering one just the same . . . honestly, I have no idea where I got it.

February 11(?)-- Live with Regis and Kathie Lee-- I failed miserably in my attempt to tape this appearance, but from what I've heard, thankfully, it was far superior to his 1997 interview. I guess Regis was rude (out of inferiority frustration, certainly), and Kathie Lee supposedly seems a smidge smitten with Bren. HA HA Frank, you better behave.

February 9-- Daily Show with Jon Stewart-- I only saw the very end of this appearance, but he seemed charming. Jon Stewart booted him out of the closet. On national television, Brendan admitted that yes, he really is Canadian.

February 12-- Rosie O'Donnell Show-- Not a scheduled guest, but he appeared via live remote at someone's 50th wedding anniversary or something. Brendan signed a Blast from the Past Survival Kit (lunch box, thermos, coasters, and recipe book), which Rosie put up for charity auction on eBay. Last time we checked, it was up to $610.00. I assume that bidding has since closed. I didn't get to see this myself, but here's a picture captured and thoughtfully shared by Angie Girl.

February 13-- SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE!!!!!

February 17-- MTV's FANatic-- With her boyfriend in tow, Amy Schmidt, a 20-year-old girl who professes to have seen Mrs. Winterbourne over 100 times, and claims to be his number one fan, met Brendan through this benevolent television program. I didn't get to see this, but supposedly she was a clever, if a tad nervous, interviewer, and managed to steer away from typical "so what made you want to be an actor, you're so hot" banter. Brendan is said to have been cordial and tolerant.

this picture was NOT taken from the View, but it IS from some appearance he must have made to promote this movie, so I figured I'd place it here. And you might never had known the difference, except that I'm too honest a person, and I had to tell you the truth.

February 18 (MY 16.5 birthday, I should have gotten my driver's license today, but this FRICKING STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS WONT LET ME UNTIL I'VE HAD MY LEARNER'S PERMIT FOR SIX MONTHS!! AAAAAAAARG! . . . uhh . . . I mean, rather)-- the View-- Brendan, Alicia, and Dave Foley brought some life to this stagnant party. Barbara Walters spent her portion of the interview asking Alicia questions about her views on love. I dozed until Dave emerged, when he and Brendan performed YMCA for the adoring audience. Had Brendan been given more of an opportunity to speak, he would have been darling. Incredibly Ironic Remark-- "Oh, I'm sure that when people think of sex, they think of me."-- Brendan (thanks aimee for telling me about this line!)

Hard Candy Nail Polish made a pastel pink shade called Blast to tie in with the movie. When I tried to buy it, I found that the department stores that were supposed to participate in the promotion no longer sold Hard Candy. Bummer.
