Oh yeah baby...We are slated to go into the studio the first week of March 2002 to begin recording our second full-length. Once again, we will go to Technical Ecstasy in New Brunswick, NJ to be recorded by Doc Hopper's Chris Pierce. We are excited about our new songs (soon to be classics like "Promise You", "Learning By Mistakes", and "Mexicans On Bicycles"), as well as working with Chris again. We are working hard to get the songs sounding as great as possible so the album is off the heezy, yo. We hope to get it out sometime during the summer.

Hello, everybody....
We just finished recording "The Morning After", "Ode To Ted", and "You Make Me Tired" for our split 7-inch with New England/New Brunswick's own Doc Hopper. It was produced by Chris Pierce at Technical Ecstasy Studios in New Brunswick and it sounds awesome...It will be released in November on Fake Chapter 11 Records...We are also planning to hit New England for some shows (Boston and/or Providence) sometime in the next few months with Doc Hopper as well...I think that's all for now. Out.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, Benny McBenBen...

A Day and 1/2...
DODGEBALL MINI TOUR JOURNAL
April 27, Baltimore, MD @ The Ottobar
April 28, Lancaster, PA @ Millersville U. and
Lake Hopatcong, NJ @ some sort of lodge...

Okay, I never finished the journal for Richmond, so I promised myself that this time around I would. Its about 4:15 AM, and I can't sleep because of the coffee I have consumed, but I wanted to do this journal of random thoughts to capture the moment of life, albeit short, on the road. Alrighty, before I get too wordy, here is an account of two splendid days away from home. Kids, don't try this at home (you can't!!!)

THIS TRIP WAS: Beer. Coffee. Twizzlers. 4 AM food runs to a pirate ship. No diners in Baltimore (stupid me for asking). Gracious hosts (Al and Pulaski rock, period). Cute girls that wouldn't talk to me. Cruising thru Crack Whore Central. Cruising thru Amish country. Brian kicking over his head in Hopatcong. Load, Unload. Load, Unload. Brand spankin' new "Dodger" t-shirts. Still never enough time to explore. Staring blankly down a never-ending highway (where time stands still). Finding the "World's Slowest Wendy's" in Baltimore (thanks for taking 30 minutes of my life, Snoop Dogg!!). Nearly missing the Millersville show because of Snoop. Being dubbed Benny McBenBen, Irish roadie extraordinaire. Attaching "mc" to anything (i.e. Steaky McSteak). Brian and Alex "over rocking!!!". Talking about circumcision at the age of ten. Brian's rad sister and her friends. Linda Fiorentino lookalike, (Atombombpocketknife's bass player). No hazmat signs. The phrase "That shit is hot!" Fun. One ups man ship. Lagwagon. Midtown. Alkaline Trio. The Ottobar-part Saint, part Melody. Beautiful weather in Millersville. Mad phat bux from merch. NJ pop punk rocks. 3 shows in 24 hours, 3 broken strings in 24 hours (Brian). Cows (Did we make a wrong turn and end up in Farmingdale?) Pushing the van in reverse. Tired. The Hopatcong kids chanting Oi! and being off the wall during The Diner Song. Unshaven. Pete taking up smoking. Hating, loving, or being indifferent towards the Beatles. Seeing the Sick Of It All video and rubbing it in Alex's face. Terry asking if his drums sounded okay (again and again). Hunger. Familiar faces in strange places. Autographs. Realizing how much I love punk rock, and why I want to start a band. A lot more stuff I can't think of. This is good enough. Oh yeah, this trip was with good friends who didn't have to take me, but did and made me feel like the 5th member (actually the 6th behind Beauville). Thanks.

So how is everybody today? That sounds good. Today's lesson will be about change. Change is something new, and change is good. Dodgeball has just finished work on our latest cd. It's a five song ep that will be put out on Umbilical Records! That's right, we've finally got somebody to help us become the greatest band on Earth. Ok, so that may be a bit much, but we can dream right? So back to the important stuff. Our next cd, Choking on a Tic-Tac will be available in late September or October for your listening pleasure. If anybody can make it out to the show on September 9th at the Birch Hill, we will have free sample tapes with one song from the new record and a special treat, maybe an acoustic track or something. We've also got some plans to go back out on the road during the last week of October. We will be hitting Virginia, North and South Carolina, so if you're in that area, check out the show and pick up the new disc. Hope to see you all there!

Our first full length cd is selling well and is readily available for your listening pleasure. You can pick it up at some local NJ record stores (see the Merch page for where you can get it) or you can get it directly from us, just send us an email and we'll get you one. You can also hear us on 88.9 WMCX Monmouth Radio and 95.5 WRAT The Rat. Make sure you call these stations and request to hear Dodgeball. The DJ's will love you for it and they may even give you some free stuff!

Speaking of free stuff, We are having a contest that involves our song, The Diner Song (which is on our cd) and you winning some goodies. All you have to do is figure out all of the words, send 'em in and we'll send you all kinds of stuff- compilation cd's, shirts, stickers, broken light bulbs, old socks, plastic spoons, you know, stuff that is really useful in today's world of technology. So pick up the cd and get those words in!

So that's about all for now. Sound bites for the songs should be up any day now, so keep checking the site.

I'll leave you all with a riddle, any one who thinks they no the answer should email me and maybe I'll give you some treats if you get it right.

Q: What is bought by the yard and worn by the foot?

A: ?

Ok Boys and Girls, make sure you've got some cookies and milk for this one, this might take a minute. Are you in your favorite chair? Do you have a warm blanket? Are you ready? 3...2...1... So January 7th was the kickoff day for our first tour and the madness began at the Melody Bar in New Brunswick, NJ. We played with Holy Sue and Locket and the show was our friend Steve's Birthday, so it was a special day (oohs and aahs). The very next afternoon was when all hell broke loose.

The setting-The Saint in Asbury Park NJ. The Players-Professor Plum, Midtown, Dodgeball, Edna's Goldfish and Catch 22. Let me just say that I don't think we've played to a better crowd in all of the shows that we've had so far. You guys rocked and we have to thank all of you that came out the show and made us feel like we were ready to go on the road. If you signed our mailing list, you'll be getting some notification that our cd's are ready for your consumption. Every band was great and the show was undoubtedly a success. Now we're off...

At least we thought we were off. Going over the Delaware Memorial bridge shouldn't be hard, unless your fuel pump doesn't want to work any more. We pulled into a rest stop and our very own drummer, Mr. Terry Cook, fixed the fuel pump with minimal tools. It wasn't until Alex (our guitar player) had to take a ride to the auto parts store with Nick from Mobil. Nick was this crazy guy who thought he had politics all figured out. He had senators arrested, Supreme Court dates, figured out government cover ups and CIA and FBI screw ups, yet he still worked at Mobil in the Delaware rest stop. You think you know someone...

Sunday the 9th, one could find us in Baltimore, MD. Special thanks to Moviegoer for hooking us up with a show. If you don't know, Moviegoer is a band from the Baltimore area and they are unbelievable. Also, local favorites, Pulaski, played a great set with funny songs about Voltron and stuff like that. They rocked as well.

Did you ever go on vacation with your friends? Well on Monday the 10th, that's what we did. We met up with fellow Jersey boys, LWL, in Richmond VA. They needed a show, we needed some friends and everyone delivered. LWL is one of the best bands out right now and we couldn't have had a better time playing with them. Richmond was home to some drunk homeless guy that told us that we rule. If you asked the really drunk guy at the Hole in the Wall (place of the show) if he wasn't throwing himself onto his car hood, he would have told you that we (Dodgeball and LWL) did rule that night. Off to Greenville, NC.

Since we had so much fun with LWL the night before, we thought that it would be great to have them play with us again the next night at the Backdoor Skatepark in Greenville, NC. Let me say this, Greenville, NC is home to the most beautiful women on earth. Jersey girls are the best and love 'em (all of 'em) But there is just something about North Carolina that all of the girls look like the stepped out of a magazine. (Maybe it had something to do with me spending 3 days in a van with my band members, I don't know?) After passing out 250 flyers with our new friends in LWL, we ended up having a great show. Thanks to all who ventured out and special thanks to Sasha and "Cow" for putting all nine of us up that night.

So the next night found us traveling to South Carolina, again with our new favorite band, LWL. This turned into the Dodgeball/LWL tour to take over the world, wait 'til we get home! Again in need of a show on their way to Florida we had LWL join us in Charleston, SC with another great band that we now call friends-Charleston local, funny looking kids. Thanks to Jason, Leisa and the FLK boys for being so accomodating, it must be that southern hospitality! We had a great show in Charleston, which is a very cool city and got ready to head further south to Florida. After saying our goodbyes to LWL and they were tear-jerkers (we did miss Steve, Rob, Ivan and the infamous Mandingus). We were off to sunny Florida.

Next time we play in Florida I need to make sure to book a show in between. I don't know, maybe Georgia or even north Florida, but 10 hours driving then playing a show and having a 12 hour drive ahead of us back up north, wasn't very good planning. We did arrive in Florida and my friend Sherry gave us free reign of her apartment. That was very cool of her and after settling in and catching a few "Z's" we headed off to Spanky's in Downtown West Palm Beach Florida. We played a show with Shrill, a southern tinged rock act that had some really funny songs about blow up dolls and the weed eater guy. They were cool. A less then thrilling turn out, was a little dissappointing, but we did have a great time and got to play on an outdoor stage. So now it's back in the van.

We made really great time driving up to Myrtle Beach and we were looking forward to playing a second show with funny looking kids. We met up with them at the Lazy I, a small club/ record store and we were ready to rock. We found out that local headliner, the Frownies, had cancelled, so it was up to the two of us to rock. We did. The show had a decent turnout and everyone that was there was super cool to us. Thanks to all who stuck around and again, thanks to Jason and FLK. They will be coming up to Jersey soon and playing with us, so we'll expect to see you all (or y'all as they say in the south) at the shows.

So that was tour. We drove all the home from Myrtle Beach and suffered from an extreme case of sleep deprivation. We were all a little delerious, but had a great time none-the-less. We have to thanks everyone who helped us out and all the people that watched us play. A big sloppy kiss goes out to LWL for being the coolest guys. Thanks to Jason and FLK, "Cow", Sherry, Crazy Nick at Mobil, Kaci at the Galaxy Diner in Richmond, CD Alley in Greenville for having all the stuff that Pete couldn't find in Jersey, Billy at the Backdoor Skatepark, Andy from Whippersnapper for getting the ball rollin', and anyone else we may have forgotten (keep in mind, I still didn't get much sleep!)
