The Resurrection of the "hey, it's that guy!" Guy

We are all guilty of it. Cruelly laughing at the poor no name actors featured in the "hey, it's that guy" articles. Those actors who you recognise, but never bother to learn their names, because hey, they're never gonna get big.

But sometimes they do. Sometimes they claw their way out of obscurity to star in big budget, big profit films. And suddenly everyone knows who they are. You don't need to name their films for people to realise who you're talking about.

One such actor is Jack Black. It wasn't all that long ago that he was just "that weird guy from that movie". I'm sure you all remember him as the loser techie guy who eventually gets his arm blown off in "The Jackal". Or as Matthew Broderick's whiny smart-ass friend in "The Cable Guy". Some of you might even know him as the cynical, elitist music store clerk Barry in "High Fidelity". But he still remained "that guy" in these films. It wasn't until "Shallow Hal" and his resulting gig co-hosting the 2002 MTV Movie Awards, that he truly became Jack Black the actor, rather than just "that actor guy". And you must be a hermit, to be under 25 and not know who he is.

So just keep that in mind next time to make a dig at another poor no name actor. They might just crawl up and bite you in the ass.
