Akd'S Eighties Jethro Tull page

Hi! Welcome to my homepage!

During this period, the folk rock/art rock team of Barriemore Barlow, John Evan and David Palmer disappeared. Ian Anderson began to employ the use of synthesizers in his repertoire. In some cases this works, in others it fails miserably.
The only song that I have ever heard from this album in "Flyingdale Flyer," which can be found on Anniversary!

This album contains many superb songs, including:
"The Clasp," "Fallen On Hard Times," "Beastie," "Flying Colours,"
and "Pussywillow!" "Pussywillow" and "Broadsword" can be found on Anniversary!

A somewhat disappointing album which contains songs which employ too many synthesizers!

From the hard driving rock of "Steel Monkey" to
the magnificence of "Farm On A Freeway," (which can also be found along with "Jump Start" on The Best Of Jethro Tull: the Anniversary Collection) this was Jethro Tull's
most pleasing effort since Songs From The Wood. A thoroughly
enjoyable presentation which received a Grammy award for best
hard rock/metal performance! This was definitely one of the best
cds released in 1987. In September, 1987: Four great art-rock bands
of note released albums! These were: Hold Your Fire, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, Big Generator and this cd. Of those
four, this was definitely the best! Other great songs on this cd,
include: "She Said She Was A Dancer," "Budapest," "Raising Steam"
and "Mountain Men!(one of my personal favorites)" A magnificent representation of Jethro Tull
in the 1980's!

Another disappointing album whose best song: "Kissing Willie" can also be found on The Best Of Jethro Tull.
