So what is he like, this misterious Kev?
You can't miss him in all the Backstreet's videos. He is the one with the strong presence
on the stage, focussed, serious and mestireous. Is this the truely him, or just an image?
"When it comes to business and the music then I'm really serious," reveals Kev. "When I'm really
into something and really focussed then I guess I get pretty tense. But I tend to be all or nothing - I'm
either very serious or very, very laid back." A smile is pretty rare for Kev. But he's not a tough man,
although he sometimes looks like a tough one. In fact, he is very sensetive. When he visited the
farm in which he spent his first 9 years of life, he couldn't stop and began to cry...(Oh...)
Kevin was born in Lexington, Kantucky as the 3rd child to the Richardsons family, that included also
Ann and Gerald the parents, and Tim and (young) Gerald the brothers. His mom was the sister of Harold,
father of another Backstreet Boy, Brian, Kev's cousin.
Childhood was Kevin's happiest part of life (although his brothers beated him very well...).
He grew up in a little farm near Lexington. When he was 9 the family moved to the Apalaches.
There was a summer camp his father was making. Kevin soon discovered the piano that was standing
in the preformances hall. He learnt to play it by ear, without anyone's help. That developed his great
sense of music. Soon he was playing everything. As a fresh highschool man he got E-keyboard. From
that moment on he didn't stop playing.
When he was 19 he moved to Orlando, got a job in Disney-
World, and
worked there until a friend of his girlfriend told him there are "boys who sing acapella all the time". He
came to try to get the adition, and the rest, as we say here, was history.
