A few days ago, the color scheme and title image on Tamia's
official website were edited; everything else remains the
same. No major change.

This week's mailing of the Elektra.com
e-mail mailing list included new information on Tamia's new
release. The biggest news: the album has been delayed until
October 2000. Tamia will be working with producers Missy
Elliot and Shep Crawford, among others. Also, a new web-domain has
been created for Tamia's new release: tamiaonline.com.
The page looks the same as her previous page on Elektra.com, with the
new October 2000 release date edited. Here is the excerpt from the
e-mail:
TAMIA HOOKS UP WITH MISSY FOR NEW ALBUM
Look for the new Tamia record coming in October. The new disk
marks the Elektra debut for Grammy nominee, with cuts produced by
Missy Elliott and Shep Crawford, among others. Tamia says one of
the hardest things about making record was eliminating songs.
"When you're working with all these great people, you like
everything they play you. When Shep was going over material he had, I
was like 'I want that one, I want that one, I want that one
too.'" Tamia also wrote with Shep on the album. Cited
by Newsweek magazine as one of the ten new faces to watch, Tamia told
Elektra news staff working with Missy was a dream come true.
"She's so relaxed, which is interesting because she practically
lives in the studio. But she made me feel at home. She
lets you work at your pace, letting the natural vibe come out."

Elektra has not updated Tamia's official webpage in about 2 1/2
months. It seems that the album may be delayed 'til Fall
2000. However, 2 new Tamia tracks have surfaced online!
I am not sure if these tracks are new tracks from the upcoming album or
ones that didn't make it on, but the bottom line is that they're new.
Pepsi
has a promotion called "Choose Your Music" where you
can collect points from Pepsi & Mountain Dew products in exchange
for customized CD's. You can pick from more than 150 songs, and
two NEW Tamia songs are on the list! Added to that, 30 second
Streaming Windows Media clips for Stranger In My House and
Dear John can be heard at the Pepsi
website. So go to the website for rules and instructions on
how you can get these tracks on CD. The offer lasts until August
31, 2000 and (to my knowledge) only open to U.S. residents.
To reach the contest page, go to Pepsi.com, and click on "Choose Your Music". There you
can find instructions on how to collect points to trade in for your CD,
and rules and regulations. To listen to the Tamia clips, click on
"Mix Your Own CD" and search under "Music Genres:
R&B".

Yesterday, Tamia's
official webpage at Elektra.com
put up a picture of Tamia and Missy Elliot in the studio (from
February 2000). Since Tamia and Missy are now label mates on
Elektra, we can expect Missy to appear on Tamia's new album either
as a guest performer or producer. |

Yesterday, 5 short Real Audio clips were added to Tamia's official webpage at
Elektra.com! Each are short messages (about 8-20 seconds long) from Tamia her her fans, and includes:
- Tamia Welcomes You (Tamia welcoming you to Elektra.com)
- What Tamia Likes To Do (Tamia prefers singing over acting)
- Previous Project (Tamia is 8 songs into the new album!)
- Special Message (message to her fans)
- Tour Plans (Tamia would like to tour after the release of the new album)

Great news! After almost 2 months online, the teaser page for Tamia's new album on
Elektra Records' website was taken down yesterday and replaced with another one containing a bio of Tamia and a confirmed release date for her new album:
June 2000! To add to the hype, her updated page is promoted on Elektra's front page in the news section! On the new page, a complete address (incl. P.O.Box #) has been given for the new
Tamia Fan Club: P.O. Box 7459 Bloomfield Township, MI 48302. Another feature has also been added: a mailing list. You provide your e-mail address and zip code, and you will be notified by the record company on any Tamia news. To access the site, click on the image above. That image appeared on the teaser page, but does not appear on the new updated page.

I've added this new section to compile all the news on Tamia's upcoming album on her new label
Elektra Records. We first learned about her new album during an online chat with Grant Hill on
GrantHill.com earlier this month. Since then, this site has popped up and fans are eagerly awaiting the new release, which is expected to be out within the first three months of the new millenium. The site address is:
http://www.elektra.com/retro/tamia/, check it out. The teaser page includes the image (shown above), an e-mail address where you can write to her
(singingartist@hotmail.com), and a new Fan Club address (the P.O.Box # is not included, so it must not be up yet). I will add any news on this upcoming release on this page. |
