Return to London's Burning! Home Page
12/20/96: Sorry for the long absence. Unfortunately, many things came up and I did not have time to work on the page. One of the major events that happened recently is that Jennifer and I are now engaged! No date is set yet however.
A few things have been added finally. The lyrics for This Is England have been added courtesy of Espen Esmark Kristiansen with some editing done by myself. The revised lyrics for Lose This Skin were provided by John Yuelkenbeck. Lyrics for Long Time Jerk were added by jopublic@community.net. Kirk Williams provided London Calling Bass Tablature. Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated. Please bear with me on some of the formatting problems and links. I changed editors and operating systems recently and of course there are bugs that have arisen in my site. Thanks!
10/30/96: Added article: Clash Crests on New Punk Wave from the Los Angeles Times January 20, 1979.
10/08/96: Added Junco Partner - Bass tablature courtesy of Matt Schild. Check out his home page, Grrrrrr!, for info and opinions on punk and other topics.
09/19/96: Added a long article
from Trouser Press February 1978 entitled The Clash: Greatness From
Garageland. The article was provided courtesy of Anthony Peters.
09/12/96: Added another interview (and some more pix) with Joe Strummer from the Los Angeles Times January 31, 1988.
9/5/96: Added tons of tablature courtesy of Raymond P. Sferra. The complete tablature for Give 'Em Enough Rope is now available. Many tabs were added to Sandinista!. Tablature for Lovers Rock almost completes London Calling. Does anyone have "Wrong 'Em Boyo" or "Four Horsemen?" Any more tabs will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
8/27/96: Added Guns on the Roof tablature courtesy of Raymond P. Sferra. Added an interview with Joe Strummer from the Los Angeles Times August 9, 1986.
8/9/96: Added Julie's in the Drug Squad, Washington Bullets, The Prisoner and Hitsville U.K. tablature courtesy of Raymond P. Sferra.
7/26/96: Added Pressure Drop and 1-2 Crush On You tablature courtesy of Raymond P. Sferra. Added I'm Not Down tablature courtesy of el Guapo and Raymond P. Sferra.
7/18/96: I have finally added the complete lyrics for Give 'Em Enough Rope. The lyrics for the missing songs come courtesy of Raymond P. Sferra. I've also added the lyrics for "If Music Could Talk" provided courtesy of Jan Mulligan and lyrics for "Lose This Skin"
7/16/96: Check out the August issue of Guitar World magazine profiling '70's punk. Included are two huge articles on the Clash, a small discography and a poster. Plus there are some articles on the Sex Pistols and the Buzzcocks. Thanks goes out to batmatt@holly.ColoState.EDU for letting me know about the issue.
7/12/96: Added I'm So Bored With the U.S.A. tablature courtesy of Raymond P. Sferra.
7/8/96: Added The Magnificent Seven - Bass tablature courtesy of Aaron Freeman.
6/26/96: Added an article from the Los Angeles Times September 17, 1978, plus a couple of new pictures.
6/17/96: Added an article from the Los Angeles Times February 12, 1979.
6/13/96: Added an article from The Soho Weekly News March 5, 1980 written by Lester Bangs. The article was provided courtesy of Anthony Peters. I also added a couple more pix to go with the article.
6/1/96: I apologize for the long delay between updates. Other commitments kept coming up that prevented as much work on the page as I would have liked. Anyway, I've have managed to update the lyrics area substantially. Previously, every album had a lyric sheet. As a result, there were numerous copies of each song. This meant that correcting typos and phrases was a huge hassle. Therefore, I compiled the lyrics into a few HTML files where there is only one copy of each song. Now one can easily print out the lyrics to all of the Clash's songs, but, unfortunately, printing out the lyrics just to one album is not possible. If this is a real problem, let me know and I can possibly re-post the original files.
Thanks to Jan
Mulligan, I added a great deal of song lyrics for Sanidinista!. I also added my
lyric transcriptions for Pressure Drop,
one of the most requested songs, and Radio Clash. I
plan to regularly update the page, so enjoy the new lyrics and e-mail me if you have any
questions and comments.
Thanks!
5/5/96: el Guapo strikes again! Here is the tablature for "The Right Profile".
4/30/96: Added a couple of articles about the Clash from Time and Trouser Press. These articles are the first of many that will eventually appear at London's Burning courtesy of Anthony Peters. I combined the Articles and Biography sections. Some additional pictures of the band members were also added.
4/23/96: Added to the Tablature Page: "Jimmy Jazz" - Bass courtesy of Matt Schild and "The Card Cheat" courtesy of el Guapo.
4/16/96: Added "Bankrobber" - Bass to the Tablature Page courtesy of Matt Schild.
4/13/96: Added "Rudie Can't Fail" to the Tablature Page courtesy of el Guapo.
4/10/96: I greatly expanded the Other Resources section, splitting it into two parts. I added a couple more Clash pix in that section as well. Also in the Other Resources section, I have started a list of Reader's Pages. So please e-mail me if you want your page included in the list of reader's links.
4/4/96: Finally, bass tab comes to London's Burning! Due to the contributions of Thomas Enright I have added two bass tabs to the Tablature area. Also, the "Should I Stay..." tab has been revised. I have also added a new section to the main page called: Articles/Reviews. Right now it includes a copy of the Rolling Stone article about the "100 Best Albums of the Eighties." Needless to say, the Clash are prominently featured.
3/30/96: Added eight tabs to the Tablature Section. Added a color graphic of the band. Edited some lyrics.
3/19/96: Added a few words from Joe Strummer to the Biography Section.
If you are looking for some good
information about the Clash, check out Clash Sity
Showdown. This fascinating fanzine includes 32 pages
of pure Clash. Articles talk about rare Clash songs, concert
recordings, the story behind Cut The Crap
and much more! The 'zine costs nothing. Please e-mail seegnolls@aol.com
for info to obtain Clash City Showdown.
Enjoy!
3/14/96: Added info on the Clash's U.K. Singles. The list
is divided into two sections: '77-'80 and '81-'91.
Many readers have requested
information about bootlegs. A great deal information about
bootlegs and promo copies can be found at THE CLASH
ZONE.
If anyone has more Tablature, I
would gladly include it in this page. Please either e-mail me or
post it to alt.music.clash.
I would like to include bass tab as well, but I have not been
able to find any on the Internet. Anybody either have some bass
tab or could point me in the right direction? Thanks.
My page is now included in the Library
Of Musical Links, a good compendium of music-related
links.
2/28/96: Added info on Black Market Clash and the Clash's U.S. Singles. London's Burning! Tablature section is now included at Web Guitar Resources. This is a great place for aspiring guitarists providing links to sites for: Tablature, equipment, magazines, manufacturers and much more.
2/22/1996: Added biographical info and a transcription of the MTV
Rockmentary of The Clash. If anybody knows the
original airdate, please let me know. I remember recording it around the time
Clash On Broadway came out. That British guy was still
hosting "120 Minutes" at the time and he said that this was the first
airing. I edited out some of the "you know's" and "um's"
and I realize that the grammar is not great (Paul Simonon talks almost entirely
in run-on sentences). Feel free to send any opinions, as some of the words were
hard to make out. Enjoy!
P.S. My page has also been added to: House Of The
Rising Punk. It's a well-made page for links to all
sorts of punk-related sites and info on the Internet.
2/12/1996: Added cover thumbnails to main albums page. Added release, personnel, producer info to each album page. London's Burning! is now included on The Ultimate Band List.

1/29/1996: I uploaded a bunch of Tablature. I also made some lyric corrections.
1/24/1996: The entire site is new so explore what the site has to offer: Clash lyrics, guitar Tablature and graphics. While some of the areas are incomplete much will be added soon so keep watching! Please feel free to send any comments, criticisms and contributions. Information about music-related WWW sites will be greatly appreciated and added to the growing list of launching points in the "Other Resources" section. All reader additions will be properly credited.
