Bob and I thought we would take a little time and share some of the things that we remember happening the weekend of the wedding. The first thing we would like to comment on is the weather. The entire week before the wedding, we thought that we would probably have to have the rehearsal picnic inside. Even the day of the rehearsal, we were not sure. Just in time, the rain stopped and the sun came out. It held off until after everyone was safely out of the church and on their way home. The storm that came rolling in was unbelievable! It was so bad that there were trees down in the road. Bob and Rob were on their way to Kalamazoo and decided to turn back. They didn't know whether it was going to get worse or not, and Bob was dead tired from traveling most of the day. So it ended up that Bob and I both stayed at Mom and Dad Brighton's! Another interesting |
moment during the wedding was when Bob and I lit the unity candle. For a minute we were not sure it was going to actually light. Then suddenly...it just flared into life. I was later told by more than one person that at the moment the candle lit, the sun came out and the church was filled with the light. I didn't notice it at the time because I was just so glad the darn candle lit. The final memory I would like to share is one from the reception. As you all know, June 21st was also Grandma and Grandpa Brighton's 54th wedding anniversary. After Bob and I had cut our cake, Grandma and Grandpa were asked to do the same. Right before they exchanged bites, Grandma told Grandpa he better be nice or she would divorce him. Grandpa said, "I've been married for 54 years and all I had to do to get a divorce was to shove cake in your face?!" Of course when he tried to do so, Grandma promptly bit his fingers! There are so many more wedding memories, if you have any you would like to share send them to us! | |
