Gig, the main songwriter for the band, also provides lead vocals, lead guitar, bass guitar and acoustic guitar, as well as being an accomplished producer, engineer and arranger. Gig's unique writing and vocal style is a combination of James Taylor meets Led Zeppelin, while maintaining a definite originality. Self-taught on guitars, Gig relies on feelings and soul comparable to the likes of Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. Prior to Plain James, Gig enjoyed regional and overseas success with the North Carolina based rock band, J-Train. To date, Gig has written and produced seven albums. When asked what he enjoys the most about writing and performing, Gig replies, "I would like to touch people and make a difference in their lives. There are many positive messages in Charlie's and my music that fortunately doesn't have to be preached for people to understand it. I'm also having a great time working with Charlie. We've been together now for two years (early '98) and have shared the same vision. As far as playing live, it's all about having fun and sharing stories with an audience. Our music is very relatable to real life."
