ONLY things I have a small nit to pick with: (1) some summon spells are too long (2) polygon characters could use more detail (3) random battles can get tiresome (4)MIDI music instead of orchestrated. The first 2 problems I can get over.. the summon spells are just awe-inspiring and make you drool an ocean in front of your TV. But when you have to be at a final exam in 10 minutes, you don't have time for Knights of the Round!
The polygon characters are more a technological nit. When the game was made, extensive detail required MUCH more disk space and frame rate. Now, with games like Zelda64, detail is easier. Early shots of FF8 show a huge improvement over VII. The third nit I have is true with almost all RPGs. You have to run around in circles building up experience, gil, AP and what not.. it gets old after awhile. FF Tactics does a better job with this. As for MIDI music, we'll just wait and see in FFVIII if they correct this problem...
I beat the game in 68 hours. That's without the strategy guide or even any barrier or time materia. I didn't even know about that stuff until the second time around. I finished off the Ruby and Emerald weapons too. If anyone's having trouble with those two or any other parts of the game email me and we can talk. well, that's about it. I haven't seen a better game yet.. maybe when I play Zelda 64, something will change.. but until then, Cloud is the man!
Here's some more scenes from the game...
