~Chapter 7~ The Other Half Gets It On Brandon Williams was connected with the girls who sat at the table next to Daphne's  In fact, he was more than friends with on of them.  Brandon and Haleigh Jacobs were going out, Fred was going out with Ashley Mendos and Sam Chang was going out with Michelle Simmons.  They had a party over the Christmas break, formed a little thing called "the group" and basically kissed and were proud of it!  Daphne didn't know if she had a thing for Brandon or not.  Any fool could tell she did but some how none of her friends knew.  How you ask?  When she told her he kissed Haleigh, she thought, "I'll show him!"  Soon after, Daphne had her first, rather humiliating kiss, but was sure to brag about it to anything that walked and talked. Ben and Daphne, and Michelle Simmons and Phoebe had worked hard against one of Daphne's arch enemies, leader of preps, Clay Peters (preceded only by Jay Curtis) on their Sim Cities.  Clay actually won, but Ben and Daphne got chosen to present.  The work was grueling and the date was set, January 29th.  But instead of practicing her presentation on January 28th, she went to see down To You with two of her best friends, Olivia and Derek.  They came to her house afterwards.  Olivia stayed ''till 10:30, but Derek stayed 'till 11:30!  They had quite a blast!  And Daphne discovered that one of her best friends was in the .003% of the guys that walk this earth who didn't think Olivia was the greatest thing since Chopped liver!  Olivia thought he was an absolute moron, obsessed with name brands, but what was good enough for Daphne was good enough for her.  Derek had also went to her choir concert. Sim City had no sooner come than gone when Daphne and the clan were thinking about (and packing for) Camp Whitcomb. "Camp Whitcomb is gonna be awesome!"  said Kayla Jefferson while her friends were planing the excursion at the lunch table.  The rest seemed to agree, but Daphne and Libby shot a doubting glance at each other. "Are you sure about that?"  asked Libby. "Yeah, really Kayla.  How can three day and two nights trapped in a box with out friends be awesome!?  yeah....Right."  Daphne and Libby laughed, but no one else seemed to find it funny.  Wait 'till the trip comes along scowled Daphne to herself. As usual on big trips that were supposed to be fun, Daphne had no friends in her group.  To make matters worse, neither Olivia or Derek were  there.  She missed Derek badly, and her friends were getting annoyed at her talking about him.  Then, the guest singer sang a song that reminded her of him, and she couldn't help but cry On January 11th, Daphne had admitted or maybe discovered her great love for Brandon.  He raced through her mind.  Just when she was crying about Derek, she noticed Brandon sitting next to Lily Carter, a girl in their math class who had it all.  Then she bawled even harder.  She called Derek and discovered he was now going out with Katie Carlson.  Her day just kept getting worse.  Then Fred invited her to go play truth or dare with his friends.  Normally she'd never have done his, but she knew Brandon would be there.  She went to the Cabin, told her friends to come with her but being the fuddy-duddies they are, they wouldn't come. In the end she got to kiss Brandon.  Curfew was right after that so  she ran back to her cabin.  It was so cool!  The worst day of her life had changed to her, well, 2nd best (unfortuneately it wasn't that good of a kiss) day of her life.  She didn't think it could get any better.  Until Kayla and Alyssa had one of there infamous , not to mention hilarious fights.  It all started with one of Alyssa's no so pleasant, however common moods.  Kayla decided to do what she had an annoying tendency to do, open her mouth when she should have kept it shit.  She said, "Alyssa, there's a real bug up your butt, and I think you need to get it out." Alyssa being an absolute genius at comebacks from her "Lessons" from Daphne said, "Then get out of the cabin!"  It was hilarious.  Obviously Camp Whitcomb was scoffed at by Daphne's friends as a terrible waste of 3 perfectly good days! ~Chapter 8~ Oh...Geez that blows! Daphne was starting to get incredibly annoyed with her friends at the end of February.  They were driving her nuts mostly by their immaturity.  Daphne was the youngest kid in the grade, but she was, or at least way more mature than the rest of them.  She was with Derek, and his new found friend Josiah Silverstein a lot.  This annoyed her friends.  On March 8th the eighth grade went on a trip to the IMAX theater  Derek's girlfriend's friends yelled at Daphne for her spending more time with Derek than Kate even did.  It was 5 to 1 and trust me, those girls knew what they were doing.  Daphne had never been jealous of Kate until that day.  Kate's friends stood up for her, but Daphne's friends just stood there. On March 11th, Daphne remembered the day 2 months ago when she admitted to her liking Brandon  She'd actually been in love for two whole months.  She'd had longer crushed than this but during their 4 month span she's like 10 or 15 more people for a week (at the most) each.  Well, just 8 days later on March 19th, online, Brandon told Daphne "He knew she really wanted to go out with him but he didn't really wanna go out with her."  She loved him and the little ferret had  just said that out of the blue.  Since the girls who would've just criticized her were at volleyball, she called Derek.  Derek had already had it in for Brandon, so when he found out about his, he went online and told Brandon a thing or two about how to treat a lady!  Had he done it in the nicest was possible?  No, not quite, I'm afraid!  But Daphne was nevermore proud to call him her friend.  That was the day it really set in that Derek was her best friend.  And her friends snipping, "I just don't understand why you're so mad at Brandon!"  They'd never been in love before!  Daphne was supposed to go to a movie the following Sunday with Brandon but instead she went to see Mission to Mars with Derek.  That was the beginning of her quest to get back at Brandon. On April 1, Daphne got to meet Jake Ledvina, Derek's best friend from Green Bay.  He was awesome!  Daphne found it interesting how Daphne's friend (Also mostly Olivia's) was Jake's cousin.  She'd never known Derek before 8th grade, and Jake and Derek were best friends. Derek, though was leaving to see his dad in Florida and he'd be gone for 10 days.  he and Daphne were with each other a lot, like any normal pair of fiends would do.  Her nosy friends found this to be completely annoying, not to mention uncalled for.  She got her hate mail that day from Kayla Jefferson.  They broke her heart.  If Derek had really been the only thing that mattered to her, the wouldn't have even made her blink an eye.  Oh well, that came and went, but it took Daphne forever to forgive Kayla.
