Born
in Canton, Ohio. Attends private christian
school: Glen
oak public school. (c.f the illustrations)
The
little Brian Warner loses a part of his innocence when he
discovers his grandfather's toys and magazines...
"At
first, all we wanted to do was sneak downstairs and spy on
Grandfather without him knowing. But once we stared discovering
everything that was hidden there, our motives changed."
"Nearly
every day we made new and grotesque discoveries..."

Forms
Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids in Jacksonville, Florida.
The band is created and formed by B.Warner of course,
Daisy Berkowitz as guitarist, Gidget Gein on bass, and Madonna
Wayne Gacy (a.k.a Pogo) as keyboardist. (take
a look at my Biographies Page)
The worm
is evolving and changing into the persona of Marilyn Manson.
"Marilyn
Manson was the perfect story protagonist for a
frustrated writer like myself. He was a character who, because
of his contempt for the world around him and, more so, himself,
does everything he can to trick people into liking him. And
then, once he wins their confidence, he uses it to destroy
them."

CHAPTER
II: "The Spooky Kids".
|

|
|
|
3= 1994
|
|
Drops "The
Spooky Kids" and releases debut album "Portrait of
An American Family" as the first release for Nothing
records-label run by Trent Reznor.
"
I wanted to address the hypocrisy of talk show America"
...
Support
Nine Inch Nails on the "Downward Spiral" tour.
Backstage enemas ensue.
|

|
|
4= 1995
|
|
Releases
"Smells like Children" mini album, described by the
frontman as " an EP of remixes, cover songs and audio
experiments to encapsulate our mindset at the time, which was
dark, chaotic and drug-addled...".
"Sweet
Dreams" is a success.
Religious
groups immediatedly raise objections.
|

|
|
5= 1995
|
|
Meets with
Anton LaVey and is ordained as a Minister in the Church of
Satan.
|

|
6= 1996 |
|
Releases
"Antichrist Superstar" album. It goes on to sell
three million copies. Follows the metamorphosis of the
vulnerable human Wormboy into the Antichrist himself, so
feared by the little Brian Warner.
The
relationship with Trent Reznor starts decaying.
"
"Antichrist
Superstar" was about using your power, not your misery,
and watching that power to destroy tyou and everyone around
you".
It is
bizarre, dark, cold, black, pervert, and also tainted by philosophy and
visual art. We love it.
|

|
7=1996
|
|
Reportedly
threatens to kill himself on stage.
|
|
8=1996
|
|
Undertakes
chaotic debut UK Tour.
Cancels
one date and storms off stage at another.
|
|
9=1997
|
|
Police
receive a bomb threat before a gig in Caldwell, Idaho. At a
show in Salt Lake City, a shotgunis confiscated from an
audience member.
|
|
10=1998
|
|
"The
Long Hard Road Out of Hell" autobiography emerges.
Written by Neil Strauss, the Rolling Stone journalist.
Appears to be a best-seller.
Falls out
with Trent reznor as a result, due to Courtney Love references
in that very book.
"
From the World's most controversial rock star comes his
shocking, confessional and reavealing life story. MM candidly
and vividly recounts his metamorphosis from a frightened
Christian schoolboy into the most feared and revered celebrity
in America..."
|

|
11=1998
|
|
Releases
"Mechanical Animals" album. It fails to set
the world on fire. It is a big surprise for fans of course,
but also by critics.
Inspired
by glitter, glam rock, Bowie ( red hair à la Ziggy Stardust)
and Numan among many others, Marilyn Monroe etc... it is also
linked to the fact that Manson moved to Los Angeles California
qualified as " The drug capital of the world". The
Drugs ( the best representation is the song: "I don't
like the Drugs but the Drugs like me") another
facet of " Mechanical Animals."
" To
me, it is a pretty depressing record, and at times when it
leads you to believe it's not depressing, it's being
intentionnaly fake and sarcastic. The elements of glam are
very ironic..."
|

|
12=1999
|
|
Undertakes
poorly-received co headlining tour with Courntey Love wals
after a handful of shows.
|

|
13=1999
|
|
Thirteen
people are murdered at Columbine High School, Colorado. Manson
is made a scapegoat for the massacre.
This
leads to Manson going back home, staying alone, exploring new
facets such as vulnerability, extremely disappointed
that in the end no one has perhaps ever understood the aim of
his projects. He's hurt. Manson also condamns critics,
journalists, politics." Holy Wood (In the Shadow of
the Valley of Death)" is gonna be the answer to those
pseudo journalist and politics.
|

|
14=1999
|
|
Appears
at the Big Day Out festival. Flashes arse before walking
offstage.
|
|
15=2000
|
|
Makes
up with Trent Reznor and prepares to release "
Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death)".
This is the response to his condamnation for Columbine
tragedy. The song "Disposable teens" is the
twin sister to "The Beautiful people".
Appears
several times, whether it is onstage,or in his video "The
way I am", with EMINEM the shock rapper.

FROM
NOW ON...2002
|
|
Covers
"Tainted Love" the Soft Cell 80's hit.
There is a beautiful reason to this : the lead singer of Soft
cell had been ordained in the Church of Satan.
And Now
:"We have entered the Golden Age of Grotesque"
inspired by Cabaret of 30's Europe such as the Moulin Rouge in
Paris, vaudeville, the artistic movement : Dadaism, Dandysm
with Oscar Wilde etc... etc... Twiggy Ramirez quits. Replaced
by Tim Skold from KMFDM.
Described
and explained as the “most genius deluge of hardcore guitar-drum violence and reckless electronic-punk vaudeville mixed with 30s cabaret decadence and Arch-dandy dada. These snot-nose stompalongs will convince the finger-waving, faithless bangsters one thing for sure. We can only become what we really are when we no longer believe what others have convinced us to be. We won’t follow religion, we are one. And the understanding of my art is only the sad product of journalism. Fuck art. I am art.”
