the red jezebel garden

For a band with a notoriously erratic live history, Red Jezebel were certainly on the money for their BDO appearance quickly moving into a fantastic version of 'Sail'. Ever the energetic performers, Chris Hayes and Paul Wood lurched around stage like wild men whilst bassist Mark Cruikshank spent practically the entire gig with his back to the ausience. Wood's vocal approach to 'Itch' deserves a special mention for making the word 'Yeah' musically relevant again, although Special Moments in Rock Excellence award has to go to Hayes' failed attempt at a classic rock pose which brought him flat on his back, earning a standing ovation from the crowd. In true rock
fashion, they left the stage with their instruments still humming, but the memory of his performance will no doubt last for quite a while longer.

>>REVIEW II
Over to the local stage, and someone mentioned to me the other day that they thought Red Jezebel just might have a bit of Oasis in them. Chris Hayes as Noel G? Judging by his BDO performance, maybe it's not such a far fetched idea. He may need to practice his "monitor stomp" move though. That is unless he's perfected a new variation where you land flat on your back! The Jez played like they were enjoying themselves as much, maybe even more, than their audience. Security tags swung, sweat flew, and there was a sense that this was perhaps the most fun to be had at the local stage all day.
