The
AppLE
PIES
start
off as a group that want to
repropose
the BEATLES'
sound&style
taking
it all from their official recordings, pictures, films,
reaching out an actual working method concentrating on the
period that goes
from 1960 to
1970
from
Love Me Do
to
Let It Be
The
period that goes from 1960 to 1970, from Hamburg to
Eternity, from Cavern to Let It Be, is like sailing from
pure 50" Rock 'n' Roll to the to the psychedelic triumph,
with Mersey Beat, Beat, with Dylan and surrondings, raga
rock with a bit of soul, pieces of musicals with Motown
Sound and some unknown B side of rhythm&blues like, from
"That'll be that day" to "Long and Winding
Road"..................the sound explodes towards the
unknows.
For
the AppLE PIES
the
starting point is surely the album "Live at BBC" recently
published by EMI, and this testify how good the Beatles was
in playing songs of different styles : the band therefore
discovered to be the cover band of a group that was also a
cover band : in fact the group are proud to play songs like
"Help", "Yesterday", "She loves you", "A hard day's night",
along with Chuck Berry's hits or the Coasters, Little
Richard or Roy Orbison, Chan Romero or Leiber-Stoller,
sometimes surprising the audience with "Besame mucho" or
even with "The Honeymoon song" that belonged to Marino
Marini's collection as Paul Mc Cartney stated in one of his
interviews.
The
AppLE PIES's collection
is certainly wide and it's often a task for the groups to
decide which song to play (if you happen to be on the spot
while they making their choice, I can assure you, it's a
show in
itself).
