Archery+Whats in my Box(Not the cricket kind)
Current FormABest Zenit riserThis is nice but not as nice as the Spig. Bit lighter though which is fairly nice... It is still a heave riser at 1350g. I have filed the frip and the shelf of the riser. I would not recomment this riser at 300 pounds and would not buy another. I got a cheap one for 200 though. With it I use a Shibuya button and basoc hoyt plastic rest. The Hoyt rests are very cheap and work perfectly. My current one has lasted four months and has shot thousands of arrows. Win & Win SidewindersI moved to these for two reasons. My Winact Focus limbs were I realised too heave for me to control. I have improved my shooting a lot since giving my ego a rest. Secondly I wanted to try 70 inch limbs. They pinch my fingers less and apepar to be more forgiving as a result. Most of my best scores have been shot in the short time I have been shooting thes limbs. I want to upgrade them, but they are good limbs and I really cannot see the benefit in buying more expensive limbs. ArrowsI recently changed from using my ACE's. I shot them from a badly tuned compound and snapped three of them, the spine was too weak and the point too heavy. I now shoot Cartel Triples. I was sceptical but these arrows are amazing. I find they shoot equal or better to ACE arrows and are very well priced. They are heavier and give inferior sight marks but seem in my expierence to outperform ACE in windy conditions. I will continue using these arrows for both my recurve and compound. I use 400 Triples for my recurve, the Cartel 400 spine is a 540 Easton spine. and I use 100 grain points with Beiter nocks. I recently tested Kurley vanes. For some reason I hated them but they shoot so good that I always use them now. StringI use 452-X it does not fray is the most hard wearing gives a smooth shot and does not stretch once shot in. It is faultless and two tone! I no longer use a kisser button. After improving my hook i no longer need one. Keep it simple. But use a Beiter nock point. StabilizersI tried out many many stableisers, 8 in total, and settled on the Beiter one. Its great you need no extra damping as the carbon rods are tuned to eliminate specific frequencies of vibration. I was amazed by how awesome thise are! I Use a 33 inch blue beiter with screw attachment to tear up wooden floors! I also have an AGF T Bar, W+W Fomax-2 10 inch twins with Doinkers all capped with Easton end weights with D2 doinkers. I used to have a small cartel top rod/ doinker but this now lives on my compound bow.
Old Equipment
My bow Handle: Spigarelli VBS 2001 This is my current riser in Black. Its great value as it comes with a Spigarelli micro-adjust button, magnetic rest and clicker that is loud! Its a good solid handle. Grip isn't perfect but I shoot well with this riser. 16/1/04 I shoot even better with it now after replacing the crap wood grip with a nice plastic hoyt medium grip. I improved my fita 18 score by 19 points instantly, that was the best 8 pounds i have ever spent on archery equipment! Who said its not what u shoot its how you shoot. Pah to that! I also use a blue shibuya button now. ![]()
Winact Focus Carbon Limbs 68 inch 40 lbs. These are the best I am sure. (Except maybe FX) But these grouped better for me. Not to everyones taste - but on their first outing i improved my York score by 70 points.
Angel ASB Dyneema String Very smooth. Very nice.
Indoor Arrows: For indoor shooting I use Easton 30 inch Platinum Plus 2213 arrows with 4 inch shield feathers and Beiter solid colour asymmetrical nocks. I put 125 grain field points in them to weaken them up a bit after shortening my draw
Outdoor Arrows: For outdoors I use 30" Easton A/C/E 520 carbon arrows now with 120 grain points. I had a lot of trouble getting a good tune with these when i shortened my draw.. I Use the Hoys Gold medalist bow. This design is 20 years old and it is very ugly now. But it is a very very good bow, part of the reason why its still around today, it has won Olympic Gold medals in the past and is just as good today. My one is matt red with a 4/40 Beiter Clicker and REGI aluminium arrow rest (which will have to make way for the Carbon version now i have switched to carbon arrows). My Limbs: After extensive testing i chose the Hoyt Edge limbs. I tried out the Win+Win Winact, Hoyt FX and Samick international limbs. I chose my ones as it doesn't feel like a 43 lb bow, it feels like 35! None of the others could do that. The Edge lims are also very smooth. Indoor Arrows: For indoor shooting I use Easton Platinum Plus 2114 arrows. Easton X7 Indoor arrows 2014
