Valentine's Day I was channel surfing half sad that I was
alone and half glad I was after reminding myself of the shitty
one I had last year with Ray.
[A recap of last year, was sick and spent the day sleeping,
Ray comes over in the evening and asked what I got him for V-Day.
Same thing he got me, nothing. He explained that it was my holiday
so I had to get him something and since there is no Valentine's
in Israel he didn't have to get me anything. If I had the strength
I would have given him a swift kick in the nuts.]

While I was musing over last year's VD, Tom, one of our tech
guys calls me. "You wanna go have a drink?"
"Sure."
He comes over about 30 minutes later and we go to Bennigan's.
The wait for a table was long so we sat at the pretty much deserted
bar. We had both ate eariler so drinks were priority.
We talked and watched the Olympics and talked more. Mostly
about work since that's what we knew we had in common and then
about what we liked, didn't like, typical stuff you talk about
when you meet someone even though we've known each other about
2 yrs.
Then he took me home. It wasn't long before we started kissing.
What happened next took me totally by surprise. He was a perfect
gentleman. Completely unlike what I thought he was based
on how I know him from work. If his hand was somewhere I really
didn't want it to be, I subtley moved it, and the boundry was
respected. Un-fucking-believable. I kinda figured he'd be the
pushy type that I'd have to fight off, kinda like most guys I
know. Nope.
Around 10.15 he said either he stays or goes. I said go. Five
minutes later, he was picking up his keys. No trying to talk
me into staying, no whining about me kicking him out. No pressure,
no guilt. Just a nice end to a casual evening of beer and kissing.
Yes, a ton better than last Valentine's.
My company only has about 60 employees and rumors travel fast.
I haven't told a soul about Tom and I'm guessing he hasn't either
since no one has come to me asking if we're dating.
