Diary

Monday 10th July 2006

Today the wind turbine has arrived and everyone is excited. We are looking at how the different parts work and how to assemble them. We can now see that we are progressing in this project.

Tuesday 4th July 2006

Mr McMinn visited the Science on Show exhibition at the Royal Society in London.

The picture shows a really old book that scientist Robert Hooke wrote. Apparently, it is worth a million pounds!

Monday 3rd July 2006:

Today we received a letter from Navitron and they have offered us a 200W or 300W wind turbine free of charge.  Various other jobs are being completed again and we all discussed where we will exhibit the equipment when the turbine is up.

Monday 26th June 2006:

We are completing various jobs today including writing e-mails to the media to ask if they would like to participate in our project, researching dataloggers, making an order to Navitron for the wind turbine and other items and measuring how much space the turbine would take up in the Quad.

                                                                                                    Monday 19th June 2006:

We put together some letters asking renewable energy companies for help and also made out orders for the turbine, accessories and cabling. The length of cable we need is 50m, so we are ordering 100m to be sure.

Friday 16th June 2006:

Monday 5th June 2006:

Students meet to decide what tasks they will complete regarding the pricing and budgeting of equipment

Thursday 25th May 2006:

Scientist Dean Millar and Nathan(final year student) visit helston Community College to speak to the students and discuss the science behind the turbine and installation issues.

May 06:

Year 9 students chosen and brainstorm all of the ideas/tasks that they need to complete. Students contact CUC Tremough to arrange visit in June to labs and also for scientist to visit School
