My Hobbies

Yes you are right! Astronomy is my passion and I like watching stars and other heavenly bodies in the sky. I have spent nights and nights watching stars and observing this beautiful creation! My being in a small village helped me a lot as I was never affected by light pollution and I could easily admire the beauty that is otherwise lost in the city lights. The sky looks great from my place.

I have a six inch telescope of my own, the mirror of which I ground in IUCAA under the guidance of Vinaya Kulkarni. That was a nice experience and then watching the sky with this telescope was a fascinating experience. I remember hunting to find out comets as soon as the news would appear. We would never get an accurate position inthe sky for the comet so me and my friend Sandip Pawar would pinpoint in the direction and scan the sky to find out the exact location. The sky being very clear never disappointed us. We alongwith a group of students also initiated the Leonid meteor observing activity in Dehugaon which is now carried out regularly there.

The institute owns a 6" telescope and we are planning to have a 10" telescope in the forthcoming year. That will help us in getting some useful data alongwith fulfilling our crave to watch the sky.

My other interests include playing Chess and KhoKho a rural game in India. I have represented Hostel 3 in IIT Bombay in each of these events and His grace we have not suffered a defeat yet. Hostel 3 holds a record of winning Kho Kho and Chess 3 times in a row.
