Story

November 18th was the next meeting. The tribes entered the room again to be puzzled by various circles.  Except this time the circles were not on targets, they had been taped to the floor.   Six smaller circles were arranged to form one larger circle.  There was one large circle for each tribe, identifiable by the coloured markings, red for Novo and purple for Idoso.

Once again Idoso had perfect attendance and Novo was missing three survivors (Ian, Adam and Danielle).  Since the challenge required at least six members Novo (who had 5) was given 5 minutes to track down another member.  Adam was no where to be found, and Ian didn’t feel like coming.  Danielle was successfully located, and the challenge began.

TreeMail:

Harmless in your hair and
In laces of your shoes.
But this time you may find
That knots can make you lose.

One enormous tangle
Is what you will become.
Be the first to untie
To avoid feeling glum.

Immunity Challenge - Human Knots

Idoso was feeling the sting of two losses in a row, and was set on winning the third challenge.  Novo was just as pumped, eager to keep their tribe whole.
The Survivors were asked to sign up on the chalk board beside a number.  The number corresponded with a number on the floor.  They were asked to take their position on the number they had chosen.

The meaning of the tree mail was then revealed.  The tribes would become two human knots.  The Survivors had to grab each other’s hands in a given pattern, and then, without letting go of their hands, untangle themselves.

The challenge was simple: the first tribe to untangle won the round, best 2 out of three rounds won Immunity.

Eager to begin the tribes were given their first pattern.  After linking hands with their tribe mates they were given the cue to begin.  The round didn't last long, as the students untangled almost immediately.

Round Two started immediately afterwards with the revealing of the second pattern.  The tribes didn’t take as long to prepare.

This round was over as quick as the first, but the outcome this time was different: Idoso won.  The challenge was not tied 1-1.

The tiebreaker pattern was reveal, and the tribes assembled themselves for a third time.  The winner of this round would also win Immunity.

After only 20 seconds of movement Idoso found itself completely untangled, and Novo was still in a large knot.  The teachers had won, and the students would get their first taste of Tribal Council.

Tribal Council - NOVO

Both Ian and Adam were no-shows for the challenge, and they did not arrive for the Tribal Council either.  As a result the Penalty Vote rule was initiated.  For lack of attendance both Ian and Adam received an extra vote in Tribal Council.  The other Novo Survivors voted, and the votes were read:

Ian

Adam

Ian

Ian

Ian

Ian

With a unanimous decision (except for Adam’s penalty vote) Ian Burke became the first member voted out of Novo.

Mike: "We voted Ian out because he said he didn't 'feel' like coming today.  If you don't feel like coming, than we don't feel like letting you come."
