Our Casson Family and Related Lines

Our More Famous "Connections"

Daniel Boone

Yes. We are. Related to Daniel Boone, that is.

Easter Belle Tarvin was a direct descendant of Daniel Boone's sister, Mary Boone and her husband, William Bryan. This William Bryan is the one who founded Bryan's Station in Bourbon County, Kentucky.

William Bryan and others were out of the "fort" one day and he was injured in an altercation with the Shawnee Indians. Bryan was able to crawl back to the Station but died later that day or early the next from his injuries.

Following William Bryan's death, Mary Boone returned to North Carolina and stayed there until her mother died. Shortly thereafter, Mary came to live in Campbell County, Kentucky where she had kin and descendants (including us). It is Mary who is buried in Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick, Kentucky.

We've all heard the stories within the family about the "Boone Connection" but many members are uncertain of the exact relationship. We also have many youngsters who are harrassed by their playmates who refuse to believe! So for you youngsters and oldsters, here it is.

William Bryan and Mary Boone are Easter Belle Tarvin's great-great-great-great-grandparents. The lineage goes like this:

  • William Bryan and Mary Boone's son, Samuel Bryan married Mary Hunt.
  • Samuel Bryan and Mary Hunt's son, Hampton Bryan married Margaret Gosney.
  • Hampton Bryan's and Margaret Gosney's son, Benjamin L. Bryan married Sarah Ann Dye.
  • Benjamin L. Bryan and Sarah Ann Dye's daughter, Aldora Bryan married Preston Thornton.
  • Preston Thornton and Aldora Bryan's daughter, Bertha Thornton married Elzie Mayfield Tarvin.
  • Elzie Tarvin and Bertha Thornton's daughter, Easter Belle Tarvin married Rudolph Casson.

For researchers or naysayers, we have the documentation.
