"The Marine Corps is small compared to the other services. Only eight out of every 100 servicemen are Marines. Only one in every 10,000 Americans will ever be a Marine. However, there are more former Marines in government leadership positions (U.S. Congress, Senate, Cabinet, etc.) than all the other services. Of the top 500 companies in the United States, 175 are run by former Marines (as listed by Fortune 500 magazine.) The newspaper, "USA Today" said: "The Marines are a force which has turned out a disproportionate share of this country's leading citizens."
The Marines have been in the leadership business for 225 years ~ since its beginning in 1775.
