The MCJROTC Instructors

Marine Corps JROTC Instructors are retired Marine Corps Officers and Staff Non-Commissioned Officers. They are hired by the participating school with the approval of Headquarters Marine Corps in Washington, D.C. When North High School started its unit North was provided with a list of instructor applicants who have been screened and certified by the Commandant of the Marine Corps.

Each MCJROTC Unit is staffed with a Senior Marine Instructor (SMI) and a Marine Instructor (MI). Both are responsible to school officials for the conduct of MCJROTC classes. While on the job, instructors wear the Marine uniform, and meet strict Marine Corps standards for personal appearance.

In order to qualify as instructors, candidates must have a good Marine Corps record and a demonstrated potential as teachers. Applicants are also required to be in excellent physical health and of sound moral character.
