Marine Combat Training

For each Marine whose Marine Occupational Specialty (MOS) is Infantry, it takes approximately ten Marines to support them. These support roles range from Logistics to Mechanics...all necessary to the mission at hand. Those Marines whose MOS is Infantry attend the School of Infantry (SOI) following boot camp. Non-infantry Marines attend MCT.

MCT is seventeen days of intense combat training that teaches the new Marine to operate in a combat environment. In boot camp the recruit learned rifle skills. At MCT a variety of weaponry is used and the Marine spends fourteen days in the field. This experience ensures that every Marine is trained for and has some knowledge of what life is like in a combat situation.

The links below focus primarily on MCT training for Parris Island graduates but include helpful information for all new Marines.
