Poolee Functions

Recruits in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) are called "Poolees". Poolees are expected to attend a monthly meeting that assembles at the Recruiting Station.

Image. right, is from one of two t-shirts that poolees wear to meetings and other activities. They wear these shirts to show their pride in being a recruit and to generate questions from people they meet!

Advantages for the Poolee

Being a Poolee in the Delayed Entry Program has some definite advantages for the enlistee. Among these advantages? The Poolees get a jump-start on the knowledge and physical stamina needed to succeed during boot camp. They will be able to fully participate in the "miserable fun" that the drill instructors have in store for them!

The Poolee's recruiter will give him or her an Initial Strength Test (IST) to determine needed areas of improvement. The Poolee will then participate in an individual physical training program and organized sports with the other Poolees. Needed "knowledge" will include the opportunity to learn Marine Corps terminology, rank structure, General Orders, and about being a Marine. Poolees will also learn about Marine Corps history and traditions.

Fun Things!

Parents! You will also have the comforting assistance of the recruiter's interest in seeing your son or daughter complete high school and their other obligations.
