Growing puppies
neonate ![]() ![]() ![]() Newborn yorkies are black with tan marks. 2-6 months ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the most lovely period with slightly fluffy coat and early color change. 6-12 months ![]() ![]() ![]() At this ugly phase, the coat is half-way to adult and muzzle is rather long compare with head because the skull is not fully grown. This does not mean that the long and down face will be shorten and lessen angle when grow up. Most people select yorkies according to thier lovely faces and golden tan color. But the tan won't come clearly until at least 3 months. In some bloodlines may be as long as 8 months. Very small size yorkies are breeding mistakes and should not be looking for. They bear some health problems behind. For me show and breeding dogs should be more than 2 kgs. and not too leggy. To get a good yorkie, in my opinion, is to know the breeder first. Almost everyone have made mistakes from buying impulsively including me. Every puppy is cute and no one can tell what they will look like when grown up. At least 3 months should be the age for selection. If you are serious for show, the proper age should be at least 6 months. Adult dog is easier to take care than puppy. To perchase adult yorkie is suitable in some situations. Be patient and you will get true type, healthy, lovely dog you can be proud of. Remember that you may be cheated from the people you just know. Waiting for some months or years is much worthy. I try to make short guide lines here. To select the breeder : 1. Try to find as many breeders as possible. 2. Study breed standard before seeing the breeders. 3. Try to see what thier dogs look like (not just one dog). Each breeder has her/his own style of preference that you will see in most of the dogs in the kennel. 4. Select your own style and match it with the breeders'. 5. Make friends with them and study from them. 6. Make reservation to the one you have selected. 7. Breeder will select you too. ![]() E-mail me for any questions or telephone ( 662) 3921987 Monchanok S. |
