THE SKIPPER - HANS CLEMMENSEN is 58 years old with 20 years cruising experience. Hans migrated from Denmark in 1972 and worked as a mechanic in Sydney for 20 years. Hans started sailing Hobie Cats in Sydney in his 20's, bought his first yacht at 33 and gave up work to become a full time cruising sailor at 41. He's since sailed extensively along the east Queensland coast, aswell as sailing to Vanuatu, Fiji, New Caledonia and the Solomon Islands. He's cruised Papua New Guinea for 13 years and has made many good friends there, aswell as knowing all the really great anchorages and dive sites. 2008 made a electronic cruisng guide for PNGs Milne Bay and Solomon Islands using a NASA mrsid satelite picture as base.Like to know more Email me.

 

THE SKIPPER'S MATE - RACHEL HARRISON is 38 years old and joined Hans as a crewmember in 2001. Although she'd never sailed before ("I thought sailing was only for posh people"), she survived the trip and discovered a new way of life in the process. On her return to Australia, she cancelled her flight back to the UK and has lived onboard ever since. The progression from backpacker to crewmember to first mate has been a hard one at times, but it's always rewarding......eventually!
