A few words for a friend who's not with us anymore

PATRA SERAFIMIDOU
Vice president of C.A.H. untill her death, in 2006, and member of the Homosexual's Initiative Against Repression (P.O.E.K.) She was an active member of the feminist and anti-war movement. She was a pioneer for the foundation of the Refuge's Reception Centre and had helped many refuges with her knowledge and work, getting them residence permits and passports. She was a member of groups regarding torture victims and women traficking victims, as well as employment matters. As a bar and club owner, she helped groups, both financially and morally, in their work, always being open in any help and cooperation. Some of her believes were that we mustn't be racists, because we are already racism victims and that we, all together, should join against discrimination. She urged gays and lesbians to admit what they feel shamelessly and to stand for their rights. It was her wish that the marriage and adoption for same sex couples be legalised. She believed that the position of women in society should be ameliorated, and that we must find allies so we can fight against racism and social exclusion. We wish that Patra's beliefs and our own be realised soon.
