Obituary:
Rev. John R. Polinsky, of the Queen of Clergy Home, Stamford CT, formerly of Dushore, PA, died Saturday at the Stamford Medical Center, Stamford, CT.
Born July 8, 1915, in Bernice, he was a son of the late John Harry and Frances (Evanchesky) Polinsky. He graduated with honors from the Dushore High School in 1934. He worked in the Mildred Post Office. He earned bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees in English from Lehigh University, Bethlehem. He taught at MMI, Freeland, and King's College, Wilkes-Barre.
He entered the Seminary of Our Lady of Angels, Niagara University, N.Y., and studied at Marquette University, Wisconsin, and Catholic University, Washington, D.C. He was ordained to the priesthood May 3, 1960 at St. Augustine Cathedral, Bridgeport, CT. He taught at Stamford Catholic High School, and Notre Dame Catholic High School, Bridgeport. He was a teacher and a chaplain of Holy Family at Nazareth Novitiate. He was a chaplain at Motherhouse of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Wilton, CT, and Villa Maria Retreat House, Stamford. He was a member of the faculty of St. Mary's High School, Greenwich, CT.
He assisted the Sullivan-Bradford Catholic churches of St. Basil's, Dushore, St. Francis of Assisi, Cummiskey, St. Francis of Assisi, Mildred, St. Francis Xavier, Overton, and Sacred Heart Church, Laporte.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph and Frank.
Surviving are his brothers, William, Utica, NY; and Richard, Forty Fort; sisters, Alice M. Ortyl, Reading, PA; and Genevieve Endrusick, Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A pontifical Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, with the Most Rev. John M. Dougherty, D.D., auxiliary bishop of Scranton, presiding.
Interment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetary, Mildred. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Restoration Fund, PO Box 307, Dushore, PA 18614.
