There are only about 110 different syllables and the grammar is not difficult.There are four types of writing: Hiragana, Katakana, Romaji (writing Japanese using the English alphabet) and Kanji. Kanji is fascinating to learn. Each Kanji character has its own meaning. The surprising aspect of Kanji is that you can speculate or you might even know the meaning of the word without being able to read it aloud. What is more, you can invent words. Try the Kanji page.
