entrenched
to entrench
to defend
and to infringe
to fortify
and to tresspass
a paradox in a word
a farmer digging his own grave
a soldier enriching the soil with corpses
with an eye to making the desert green
now there are eyes underground
there are rows of bodies
under the rows of unscratched cars
in the orderly carpark
there's an unsettled earth
choked by weeds
skull crushed by boots
but heart still ticking
multiplying
these seeds aren't blind
they are long-memoried
these roots are entrenched
not buried.
