China Education & Research Network (CERNET)
Established in 1993 this is the first nation-wide education and research computer network in China. CERNET is funded by the Chinese government and managed by the Chinese State Education Commission. Its objective is to connect universities, institutions and schools to provide internet applcations and infromation resources. The site sections are: CERNET; China homepage; what's new; education & research; search engine; membership; surf guide.

China Scholars Abroad - CHISA (mostly in Chinese)
This electronic weekly is published in Beijing via the Tsinghua University server. It covers recent developments in economics, politics, education, culture, sports, society, etc.

China Scholorship Council
CSC is a non-profit institution affiliated with the Ministry of Education. The objective of the CSC is to provide financial assistance to Chinese citizens wishing to study abroad and to foreign citizens wishing to study in China.

Chinese Information Network for Scholarly Exchange
This non-profit organization is affiliated with the State Education Commission in China. It provides information in Chinese for Chinese students and English information for the Study in China project. Topics include: China's educational system; China's institutes of higher learning; education for foreign students in China; service items; admission information.

Institute of High Energy Phyics (IHEP)
Located in Beijing, IHEP is the major academic base for scientific work in China and is the home of the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. The site includes: general information; organization; scientific work; other information; conferences.

This site disseminates the findings of work in progress regarding development issues. Peking University (not all in English)
Opened in 1898 it is one of China's most prestigious educational institutions. The site includes: general information; events; news center; information services; public servers; other universities; hotspots.

Tsinghua University
Built in 1911 on a former royal Qing Dynasty garden, the school is now a key state university. The site includes: introduction; information board; education; research & development; colleges index; CERNET.

University of Electronic Science & Technology of China (UESTC)
Located in Chengdu, Sichuan, the university was created in part by Zhou Enlai in 1956. UESTC was one of the first universities of its kind in China. The site's sections are: general information; academics & research; schools & departments; libraries; alumni association.
