The islands of Hawai'i are some of the most beautiful islands in the world.
The main island of Oahu is the capital. Pearl Harbor is located here.
It is one of best natural harbors anywhere. The Arizona Memorial
is above the Battleship Arizona. It was created to remember all the brave
Americans who died in the Arizona and also those others who died on December
7th, 1941 during the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. The mountains
called the Palis are beautiful back drop to the many beaches. The
Hawaiian Cultural Center was created to teach visitors and Hawaiians about
all the different South Pacific cultures.
The Island of Hawai'i is known for its active volcanos, Mauna Loa and Kileaua,
Kona Coffee, and its unusual black and olivine (green) beaches.
There
are wonderful reefs to explore with a snorkel or with scuba diving gear.
There is a national park which contains the reconstructed City of Refuge.
Kaua'i is known as the garden island. It is still much the same as it was years ago. A hurricane nearly destroyed it years ago, but it is now green and beautiful again.
The island of Mau'i has become a tourist center. Some coffee and pineapple is still grown on this island. Maui has a volcano which could erupt. It is sleeping, but scientist tell us that it could erupt again.
The island of Lana'i and Moloki'i are developing a tourist trade.
They are just as beautiful as the more well know islands.
The students of Enchanted Lakes Elementary School in Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii created a website about the coral reefs around their islands. If you click on Coral Reefs here it will take you to their page.
