FRIENDSHIP-------------------------------------------
Question:
My friend is dying of cancer. Today they gave him 72 hours. i don't know how to deal with it. All i can do is sit here and cry, i can't sleep, can't eat, can't study. In school, all i do is sit there and zone. How do you prepare yourself to have a close friend die? How am I supposed to deal with things after he's died? i don't know what to do. i would appreciate any and all advice. Thanks,

There's no quick and easy way to deal with death. I had a friend in high school who died of a heart attack. It was a horrible experience. I was crying for about a week. I don't know what your religion is, but I remember turning to God for a bit of help with the grief. It was very hard attending his funeral and seeing a good friend in a coffin. It just made me realize that life is precious and that friends are not permanent. Don't take them for granted.
Cancer is a serious thing. Maybe it's better that your friend dies. Think about it. IF your friend were to continue living, wouldn't he be in a lot of pain? You don't want that do you? It's natural that you feel depressed about his leaving. Cry it out. DON'T bottle up your emotions! Talk to someone if you feel like it. Do something to take your mind off the depression. I find doing mundane things soothing.
If you can, go and visit him. Don't talk about depressing things. Instead, talk about "normal" things...like what's happening at school, who's with who, or talk about someone's pet dog. *smile* At least you'll have that memory of him before he goes. :}
