Peter returns from retreat to find himself homeless because Quigley has rented out the priest's house. As if this weren't enough, Peter is distraught to discover that, while she was in London, Assumpta has married her old college friend, Leo McGarvey. To take his mind off it, Peter takes up the challenge of a Killdargan pub, who reckon they could easily beat Fitzgerald's in a pub quiz. Ambrose is on the trail of a burglar who has broken into several properties in the area.
