You have surfed into
a web site dedicated to
providing you original Windows95 Desktop Themes for you to
download and enjoy. This page is my tribute to that ever popular
children’s animated BBC Television series Postman
Pat created for TV by Ivor Wood
and based on the original stories written by John
Cunliffe.
Postman Pat
was one of Britain's best loved children’s programmes
and is set in a typical Cumbrian village of the 80's. Greendale
is the setting for the adventures of Postman Pat and, as the
catchy theme tune recalls, his black and white cat - Jess. The
programme derives much of its charm from the strong characters created by John Cunliffe. P.C. Selby, The Reverend Timms, Ted
Glen, Alf and Dorothy Thompson., Miss Hubbard, Granny Drysden,
Mrs. Goggins the post mistress and Pat's son Julian all
combine to bring life to the village of Greendale and Pat's
postal round brings him into contact with all the characters on a
regular basis ensuring variety and scope for the adventures and
stories that unfold for the tiny ones who will love this Programme.

I regret that I have little more information to
offer you on this series. There must be more information out
there to gather on this programme and if anyone has any
information that I could pass on, please e-mail me and I will
ensure that we capture it here. Looking back on these programmes
now, some 20 years on, and in light of the success of such
animators as Nick Park and others, one can see how people like
Nick Park could have been motivated to create Wallace and Gromit
from TV programmes such as Postman Pat. Indeed, set in the
Yorkshire Dales, there is a certain Wallace and Gromit feel to
the programme, although the scripts are not written to be funny
in the same way that Wallace and Gromit's adventures were.
Finally, an old joke that always brings a smile to my face - what
did they call Postman Pat when he retired.... Pat!
